“Worst hotel for sleeping”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2010

We checked in after dark after a long day on the road. Went to bed turned off the light. Still quite bright in the room. Looked outside and there was a spot light trained right on our window. Asked to be moved. Told no rooms. Started to try to get back to sleep sounded like a planed was landing. Only a few yards away was a train track. Train traffic all night. Complained the next day that we were not told about train. They could not have cared less.

“I would never lay foot in this hotel again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2010

This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in some pretty rough places. Everything looks out dated - the sheets looked clean that was about it. The bathroom tile had mildew it looked like and was in awful shape. For the rates that they charge you would think it would be MUCH better quality. I thought it had been newly renovated but from what I saw I seen NOTHING up to date in this establishment. The restaurant was ok (for the simple fact of the waitress being so nice) but I would rather go to a real restaurant if I am going to be paying $10 for a hotel buffet. The staff at the desk was not very friendly at all when I asked for directions I got a simple "you can look it up on Mapquest". We had reservations for the same hotel for when we came back through the area but after the stay, we changed to another hotel. I would never stay in this hotel again - I don't see how it is still able to operate. I seen a couple comments on here earlier about how great it was, it has to be someone who works there because no one paying for a room there would compliment mildew, smelly, and old rooms. I will be sure to steer anyone I know away from this place.

“Gently Used but Still Good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2010

The hotel has been there for a while (hallway, carpet, and curtain stains). I slept in the front so there was no concern about outside noises; inside noises though, I could hear the plumbing from another room, either up or down, I'm not sure. I felt pretty bad taking a shower after my flight at 1 am when I learned that fact. Shower had good pressure and the water was hot. When I walked around the room the fixtures shook, which was ... amusing. The bed was pretty firm and the sheets were clean. The curtains didn't really blackout the sun very well, so when it came up, you had to too. I didn't sleep very well while there, but I'm not sure why, so I can't really say it had to do with the hotel. The staff was really courteous and friendly, making up for the sub-par accommodations. Breakfast was hot and ready when I came down and the waitress was very attentive even though I got the breakfast buffet. The "fitness" room was two treadmills and a stationary bike--but you were able to show your room card at the Gold's Gym that was close by. Check in and out were both quick and easy- a BIG plus in my book. Probably the most disappointing Holiday Inn I've ever stayed at, but no where near the worst hotel in the area. I would probably stay again now knowing what to expect, but my next time down, I'll try another hotel first. Lastly, if you're going to ask for a wake-up call, set another alarm, I didn't get mine, ran a bit late, but fortunately made my plane.

“Trains on the backside”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2010

If you stay here, make sure you stay on the front side of the property. We had a room on the backside and trains go by about every 20 minutes, making it a long long night.

“Wouldn't return”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2010

The room was spacious, appeared to be clean. A previous, recent review stated there were water bottles in the fridge and popcorn. Not in our room. We were on the 3rd floor, internet was extremely poor, at best. We were able to get a better signal from the Hampton across the street, but unfortunately could not tap into theirs since it required an access code. We had to take our laptops to the lobby in the morning to get our work done. We assumed there was a complimentary breakfast, as we get that in 99% of the hotels we stay, but again, not in this hotel. The fee was $9.99 per person for a buffet breakfast! We went to McDonald's and got a great on the go breakfast for less than $7 for the both of us. The bathtub tile area had at least a half dozen areas where there was mold/mildew (or grout missing)... couldn't tell which but it was black and I wasn't going to put my finger in these areas to find out. At any rate, that should not have been there. There was some sort of conference there and between midnight and 2:30 a.m., there was quite a bit of noise in the hallways coming from people returning from some sort of a party (I can only guess by how loud and obnoxious they were). I cannot fault the hotel for this but it just added to our aggravation. And lastly, altho the check in was smooth and the person who greeted us was efficient, upon our departure, the girl at the desk didn't even ask how our stay was, just asked if we were checking out and printed off a receipt. Had she asked, I would have given her a list of the issues we had here. We had reservations to return to this hotel on our way back home, but changed to stay elsewhere.
