We recently stayed at the Jameson Inn Alcoa. We thought it would be a great place due to reviews and ratings. Wow, were we wrong. When we showed up, the employee at the front told us that we reserved a room with double beds. We told him that we reserved a room with a king bed and he repeated himself saying that the reservations showed double beds, not king and he couldn't do anything about it. Luckily, we kept our reservation receipt and showed him the confirmation showing that indeed, we did reserve a king bed. Although he ended up putting us in the king room, the room was awful. Our hotel in Times Square was bigger. The bathroom is no bigger than a closet and it had cobwebs in the shower, mold on the ceiling and stains all over the door (hopefully that was coffee) and the toilet wasn't clean either. Honestly, I did not even want to shower there.
The room was also dirty. Cobwebs around lights, lights flickered, dirty carpet, drips of something all over the mirror and stains on the walls.. I was even scared to sleep in the bed due to the cleanliness of the rest of the room. Smoking rooms are directly next to non-smoking rooms and are joined rooms, not separate. We couldn't get a refund so we considered taking the loss and booking somewhere else.
The brochure states "premium room" and apparently that's the only room they advertised. Not all rooms are premium and I can imagine the premium isn't so premium.
Re : Breakfast. Not good. The biscuits and gravy are inedible, I was not the only person who had to dump them and find something else. As far as the rest of the food, bleh. Cereal, waffles with a waffle machine (that no one could figure out), muffins and bagels. The food looked (and tasted) like they had just brought out the previous day's leftovers or bought at a gas station.
I was thoroughly disappointed with my stay, thank God it was only for one night. The walking path is the only bonus, but you may have to ask for a view of the "lake". I am not picky about hotels and this is the first review I've had to write that was negative, however I wanted to let others know about our experience as I have no idea why others have rated this so highly. I would not book here again nor recommend it. Sometimes, you get what you pay for.
