The modest brick ranch home contains the original furnishings, photos, cars, guns and memorabilia of the Pusser family. Buford Pusser was the subject of several major motion pictures. “Your own personal tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

Ever since I was about 7 or 8 years old I wanted to find out more about Buford Pusser. I can remember the exact theater where I saw the first "Walking Tall" so seeing this place brought back some good childhood memories. As a result I wanted my son to see and understand why I thought this man was important in Americana understanding. The tour was not disappointing.

While looking at the house where the museum is located you ask yourself how can all of this fit into such a small place. But held on two different levels you see the living areas of the family as well as Buford himself. I found the items stored around the living areas quite interesting if not a bit unsettling for young eyes. But the pictures of Buford injured as well as the Corvette shell in which he died brought out questions from my son.

Even though I thought the entrance fee was a little steep having the one on one attention from the tour guide was an awesome experience. Shirley personally knew the Pusser's and was very interested in the subject she discussed.

About an hour and half drive from Memphis this small museum is indeed worth the trip. Even it it is out of the way.

“Great place to visit if you liked the original Walking Tall”

Very enjoyable visit. I was lucky when I went as I was the only person there. The lady who guided me through was very thourogh and answered all my questions and help bring Buford to life for me. There was a lot to see and read about and takes you back to the days when Buford was Sheriff. I was even a bigger Buford fan when I got through and was so glad I made this part of my vacation.

“Do your research”

Most of you will already know that there is two sides to every story, while here at the museum and in the movies made about him, you'll receive one side, I suggest getting the other side. I always thought Buford hung the moon until I did my own research. That's all I'm telling you to do before you go praising him as a savior.

“Excellant Tribute”

We traveled down to the museum and home of Buford Pusser. I must say that I was highly impressed and wanted to know more the more that I learned. The caretaker of the museum was highly knowledgeable and made it very interesting with each and every detail. What topped all of this off was I was told where one of Buford Pusser's original patrol cars was located. Then I felt like I was walking on clouds. Could not wait to get out and feel that piece of history; so much so, that I left Adamsville, Tn without seeing the house where the movie was filmed. Buford Pusser was truely a remarkable man and after visiting the home and museum, I have a new appreciation of what that man stood for.

“A Fitting Tribute”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2009

The Buford Pusser Home and Museum is a fitting tribute to and a repository of the artifacts of a man who never quite realized the legacy that he left. The modest ranch brick home, built in 1971 after a fire, reflects the simpleness and personality of a shy, quiet and generous man who by turn had little use for bullies and outlaw tyrants.

A fan and a researcher of Sheriff Pusser for years, my first trip there in 2007 was the culmination of a long journey with the Buford Pusser Legacy.

The driving force behind the museum is it's Curator, Renee' Moss. Coupled with the support and tireless dedication of Sheriff Pusser's daughter, Dwana, and the Buford Pusser Foundation the museum is coming into it's own as a modern, updated and splendid way to secure Sheriff Pusser's legacy.

Buford Pusser was and is single-handedly responsible for hundreds of thousands of people choosing law enforcement and criminal justice as a career. The Pusser story should be treasured and remembered. I am very happy that the Buford Pusser Home and Museum does just that.
