On the 28th of Jan My sister called and made reservations for two rooms she specifically asked the lady on phone for room 110 and the other room number did not matter because it was for my husband and me. The phone call was made about 9:30pm and she was told that the rooms would be ready when ever we arrived. My sister, her husband, my husband and I arrived to the hotel around midnight and we were in the process of checking in and my sister asked the man at the register if he had included our military discounts in with the bill because it was a lot higher than it was when she had stayed there back in November around Thanksgiving time. The man said he did not think they gave military discounts and then she asked him if he could check with the manager to make sure. He was called into the other room by another man and when he came back he told her what the total was and never answered her question. So then I asked him if he had found out the answer and he said no they did not give military discounts anymore. My sister asked what the room number was and he said 111 and she told him that she had called earlier and spoken to a lady who reserved room 110 for her and her husband. And immediately the manager began yelling from the back of the other room at us and the man at the register telling him just to give us the room for regular price which was about 69.00 and then give us a military discount then he called us freeloaders and continued to yell so we began to ask the manger to come out and talk to us but he continued to be very rude and unctuous. He told us he would call the police if we did not get our stuff and get out. We than asked him if he had any problems with the military and if not why was he being so rude simply because we asked a question. I told my sister and our husbands to get our visa cards back and we left. However we were truly hurt to see how people could treat us so rude when we have all just came back form over seas fighting for our country and then we get treated like this here in our own backyard. We ended our night by going to the Ramada inn which was about a 20 min drive from the Howard Johnson Express and we vowed to never come back there again. I am personally going to tell everyone I come in contact never to stay at any Howard Johnson because if they could do us like that and we are out risking our lives on a daily bases it is obvious that they don't care about us. - Kathy Simmons
