“Perfect stay, almost”

I want to start out by saying this was the second time we had stayed here and it is a wonderful hotel. Check in was a breeze and we went right up to our suite. It was nicely appointed, clean and suited our group perfectly. All of the kitchen supplies were in great shape and we loved being able to use the grill as well. We were very pleased with the sundowner reception as well as the fully stocked breakfast.

The second night a bunch of boys were in town to play a baseball game. They ran up and down the halls and stairs and didn't seem to have anyone watching them. An annoyance, but certainly not the fault of the hotel.

The problem really began when the fire alarm began going off, constantly! Apparently there was some kind of a short in the system so someone was trying to fix it. This went on and on for hours. It would be fine, and then the alarm would be blaring. I went to the front desk and asked if they could tell me when it would be fixed and they couldn't give me an answer. Normally this wouldn't be a huge deal but we had our dog with us and I couldn't imagine leaving him alone in the room for any length of time when he was terrified of the alarm.

Overall it was a nice stay, we would recommend this hotel and we would return.

“It's a smoking room we made non-smoking for today,,,,,,,”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

We didn't actually stay at this hotel because when we arrived at 9:30pm to check in to the Non-Smoking king room we had booked, and confirmed with a phone call we were told 'it's a smoking room we made non-smoking for today'!!!!!!! We said this was not acceptable and were given lots of contradictory information - we were told their website had overbooked on non-smoking rooms then they were full because people had decided to extend their stay so they had shampooed the smoking room carpets and called them non-smoking! We were then told that the people who had extended their stay had been there a year (and just decided to stay another night?!?!). Finally we were told they had been sold out for that night for at least a month! It was insulting to say the least – it would have been better to say ‘we don’t care because we could sell rooms several times over tonight’ as the area is very busy.
We checked out the room - it stank of smoke, as did the corridor, and also various solvents - not an environment you want to sleep in. So, despite making a reservation, we ended up driving until 2:30am to find a pet friendly hotel with vacancies.
We complained to the Holiday Inn chairman and the response was a letter from an insurance company saying that the company did not have insurance for pain and suffering therefore they could not compensate us……. We travel a lot but with no apology we will be avoiding hotels from the Holiday Inn and Joshi hotel chains in future.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone - friend or foe.

“Convenient to airport, good breakfast, mediocre happy hour”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2010

The rooms at this hotel are typical of the Staybridge Suites brand. Clean, large, and unremarkable. The breakfast was fine but the food that was served at happy hour was disappointing. The front desk was often unattended, with a bell to summon an employee from the back office. I found this surprising both in terms of welcoming guests and in providing some semblance of security.

“Staybridge Tenement?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2010

We booked a large suite for our family (mom, dad, child, and grandma) for a recent Saturday night. The suite was well layed out, with 2 separate bedrooms each with its own bathroom, with a pull out bed in the "living room", and a fully equipped kitchen area. The price was very reasonable. Theoretically, the suite was perfect for us, privacy for all. The problem is that other guests use their kitchens to the fullest, meaning that cooking aromas abound. We came back to the room for the evening, and the hallway absolutely stunk of onions. The smeall permeated our suite, making it very uncomfortable. I asked the front desk if something could be done about the onion smell, and the clerk gave me a can of Febreeze. I asked if cooking onions was really allowed. The reply was "oh yes, most definitely, sometimes the whole area even smells of curry". So, if you like to cook on your vacation, or find that cooking is more economical than eating out, this is the place for you. However, if you are expecting a pleasant odorless stay, ask for a room without a kitchen.
The free breakfast was very good, with hot and cold choices.
The outdoor pool was very pleasant, until a guest started up the grill. You guessed it-cooking aromas. I suppose if this was a neighborhood backyard, it would be great. But, we weren't expecting this.
The beds were comfortable. However, you could hear your upstairs neighbors walking overhead.
We stayed in this hotel previously, but in regular rooms. We enjoyed our prior stays. We will return, but not in a suite.

“Comfortable, affordable suite hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2010

I am just finishing up 5 nights at the Staybridge Suites, and all-in-all I've been quite happy. Check-in was a breeze, and my suite is well-equipped and very clean. The size of the suite is not quite as large as you might find at a Residence Inn, but it is comfortable nonetheless. Other than some chipped formica in the kitchen the suite is in excellent condition. One great feature of this hotel is the fantastic outdoor pool, which came in very handy on our 90 degree days.

Although I prefer to eat breakfast in my suite, I did check out the complementary breakfast, and it offered a wide selection of fruit, yogurt, cereal, eggs, and waffles.

The only difficulty that I have encountered is that the internet is extremely slow, no matter whether you use the ethernet connection or the wifi. If this hotel can add more bandwidth it will truly be perfect for business travelers.
