“Would not go back”

Maybe we hit a bad time to stay but we had planned an overnight in one of the rooms in the B&B. When we arrived which took 3 rings of the bell while standing out in the cold for the owner to welcome us. We were then told that she had to work her part time job the next day so would we mind staying in the cottage house instead of the room we had arranged in the main home. We were then told that breakfast would be brought to us between 7:30 and 8:00 am because of the job she had to be at. Breakfast was delivered at 7:30 am and left outside our door in a basket. Nothing special just some eggs and bacon. We did not expect we would have to get up and ready to eat at 7:30 am nor did we expect the treatment we received. It looks like a very nice B&B...just we did not see much of it or much of the hospitality that some of the others noted on their reviews. This is the second B&B that we have been to of late where the owner has not been around because of her job. I am planning to ask in the future if the owner will be present so we know what to expect in the future.

“Great Location for Antiquing- Beautiful Setting; Lots of Charm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2009

We stayed 4 nights in the cottage while visiting antique shops, flea markets, and historic sites in the area. We're from the west coast, so it is a real treat for us to stay on a homestead that is older than any of the buildings at home. The farm is so beautiful! I enjoyed sitting on the porch of the cottage looking at the green trees and fields, and horses feeding in the meadow. Despite the rural feel, this B&B is very close to the expressway, plus many restaurants and shops. My husband loved being just a 5 minute drive from Renningers, Shupp's Grove, and all the other antiquing hot spots that abound in the area.
The cottage was well-equipped and nicely decorated. We enjoyed having our own little kitchen. Although cell phones and wireless Internet don't work in the cottage, you can find places for both by wandering around the property a bit. (HINT: best place for cell phone is down hill, closer to the road; best place for Internet is on the bench in front of the barn...or in the main B&B common areas). The only thing we could have wished for was a better mattress. Even my husband, who can sleep anywhere/anytime, thought it was a bit old and soft.
Most days we left for our adventures too early for cooked breakfast. We just let Debra know and she made sure we had plenty of bread, muffins, and cereal to fix a bite to eat.
She also had many good suggestions for scenic drives and places to dine.
It is a real pleasure to stay in a place where the host(ess) is knowledgeable, and adept at making the whole experience a pleasurable one.

“Lovely B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2008

Upon arrival we were greeted by Debra. The check-in was quick, then she gave us a nice tour of the B&B.

We stayed in the Horseman room, it was bigger than expected. It was very clean. The bed was comfortable and the fireplace was a nice touch. Being a smaller B&B it was very quite we didn't hear anyone else even though the other 2 rooms were filled.

Breakfast in the morning was good and plentiful.

One word of caution for those with a disabilty the hand rail going up the steps do not run the entire length. I wouldn't recommend the inn for the disabled but the cottage would be fine.

  • Liked — The quality of service, and the cleaniness.
  • Disliked — A bit drafty, but expected with an old farmhouse.

“Cozy cottage, Welcoming host”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2008

We were planning a trip to Adamstown the Antique's capitol to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary.
After checking Tripadvisor we made our reservation to stay in the little cottage that is on the property.

Upon our arrival Deb greeted us and welcomend in her home. Deb is a lovely person and wants to ensure that you are comfortable and enjoy your stay.

She took us to the little cottage and I have to tell you. It was so very welcoming. You know how sometimes you feel out of place when you walk into a room? Not this cottage. There was a wonderful breeze blowing through the window even though it was quite warm outside. The windows had small candles lit for us.

We brought our car down to the cottage parking area and I have to tell you - The horse and pony who were up on the hill came down to the fence to great us!! What an amazing welcome.

Deb has this little cottage decorated so very charming. There is a front porch for morning / evening coffee overlooking the pasture or looking up at the stars.

Mornings you get a knock on your door and there you find a fresh breakfast in a basket. The food is beyond words and so filling that you may just crawl right back into bed.

We plan on staying again and would highly recommend Living Spring Farm cottage as an excellent getaway.

“Great place”

This is a very nice place. It's beautifully furnished, and very comfortable. We're going to return this summer for a longer stay, when we can sit on the porch and enjoy the rural setting. Don't miss having a meal at nearby Stoudt's, which makes some of the best beer I've ever had. Both the B&B and the brewpub are highly recommended.
