“Charming”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

My husband and I have never been here and from the pictures where quite excited to come and check this place out. When we arrived because it is winter, nothing was in bloom but you still get that little cottage feel when you enter your room and here Mozart playing and it is really a warm comfortable feeling. We were celebrating our anniversary so this was a very special time for us and because we don't have money to waste we really were expecting a lot for $150. Very charming overall but the pillows were very uncomfortable, the jacuzzi did not work, and our beakfast was luke warm as far as recommending this to friends, I would say it was nice but not necessarily worth what we paid!

Thank you for your review. I wanted to apologize for the disappointing time you had here, especially for the eggs being luke-warm. That is unacceptable and we are looking into the matter. I did want to let you know we have upgraded the pillows since your stay, namely, there are now two types of pillows on the bed: 3 firm, and 3 soft.
Finally, I wonder about the Jacuzzi tub not working. Because we are a mineral springs facility, the soaking experience is our number one priority. We have no record of anyone complaining about the soaking tubs during the period of your stay. Please trust that if we had been alerted to any malfunction whatsoever we would have moved you to a different (and most likely better) room, or had our maintenance fellow out immediately to fix it.
My hope is that you will give us another chance in the future. I would hate for your only soaking experience with us to have been an unfulfilling one. These waters are so incredible and all of us who work here are deeply invested in making sure each soak is a relaxing and rejuvenating experience.
Sincerely,
Sophia Palosaari

“Not quite a BnB, but more than a hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

We live near the Lithia Springs Resort, so my husband and I decided to try it out for our anniversary.

Upon check-in, the lady working the front desk was less than pleasant. Rather than get up from her chair, she just pointed us in the direction of our cottage with a "You'll see it". On the other hand, the entire inn was nearly empty that weekend (Christmas weekend), so we got a free upgrade (I'll deal with rudeness for an upgrade).

The room itself was beautifully appointed, and it looked much nicer than a hotel room, which is what I expected. The soaking tub was large enough for both of us to get in a good soak before afternoon tea. I see other people were treated to a glass of wine, but when we asked about the wine bar, we were told it's only open for special occasions. Afternoon tea was nice, if a little awkward with only one other couple in the room. The front desk lady came in and only spoke to the other couple, and that just added to the awkwardness. The water in the soaking tub was still hot an hour later, so I treated myself to a second soak before dinner.

Considering the Inn is just off the freeway, it was surprisingly quiet.

Breakfast was a very nice buffet spread, with both cold and hot choices.

If you are staying here, you should know up-front that this hotel is not really walking distance to any restaurants, and there is no restaurant on the premises. There is a bus stop nearby, though, so you could take the bus a couple stops up the hill to dinner in Ashland.

Room Tip: We only stayed in one of the cottages, but they all seemed to be comparable. Ask about an upgrade i...

Thank you for your review. While it seems you did have an over-all enjoyable experience, I wanted to take a moment and apologize for whatever rudeness you might have encountered. We certainly didn’t intend to be rude. To touch on a few points: we were trying to improve your stay by giving you a complimentary upgrade. Please understand this is not something we do with every guest. I’m sorry to hear your upgrade experience was then marred by the front desk lady not standing in your presence, nor walking you to your room. We were also having an event that day which is why wine tasting was only being given to the event, and again, I apologize that wasn’t made clear. Finally, in terms of the front desk agent who spoke to the other couple in the room during afternoon tea and not yourself: sometimes in the hospitality business one senses a guest does not wish to be spoken to, and indeed it could be rude to speak to them. We seem to have misread the situation that time.

Please understand that we are a very small staff, and we hope to make each person’s stay the very best. We take every review to heart and consider them carefully. I hope that you will stay with us again in the future, and perhaps next time we will interact more successfully.

“A rave review for a fabulous spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

Stayed here coming and going on a Seattle to Vegas road trip. What a find! Most rooms have hot and cold spring water piped into the room. Fill a huge hot tub with the hot water and (if you're feeling daring) drink the cold. The spring water holds the heat so you can soak forever as the 8 hour slog on I-5 fades into memory. After your soak drive into Ashland and eat at one of the many fabulous restaurants available. Although I did not sample the afternoon tea or the wine-tasting, the breakfasts were wonderful. My first breakfast was oatmeal with cooked fruit (eggs Benedict was also available, along with a selection of muffins, bagels, juice and cold cereals), my second breakfast was French toast and sausage links and a huge bowl of fresh fruit. I also loved the murals, gardens and furnishings -- with antiques scattered here and there. A very charming and comforting place. AND the staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly. I will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Newest cottages have the best bathrooms.

Thank you for your review! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for the comments on the full hot breakfast, we love that we are able to offer this service. There is nothing like starting a day out right with an egg dish and all the protein, fruit, and carbs you can eat! Thank you too for the mention of the hot mineral springs (I’m happy to hear you were able to quickly get over that initial smell). Groupon gave us the opportunity to reach a much wider area of people and for that we are truly grateful.

One correction: there are no rates at this time for either weekend or weekday over $200. We have now gone into our Winter rates, and I think you'll find them very competitive. We hope, therefore, we will be able to see you again sometime soon.

Warmly,
Sophia Palosaari

“very nice place to stay:)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

My husband and i spent the night here because we had purchased a groupon (www.groupon.com) so we paid $143 for a weeknight stay. There was a complimentary glass of wine for each of us, a 10% discount coupon to a local restaurant, and breakfast included for the price. The cottage we stayed in was very clean and could have easily fit 4 people since there was separate bedroom and a couch in the main room that had a hide-a-bed. the jetted tub in the room allowed us to enjoy the spring water in the privacy of our room (beware the spring water has a strong sulfer smell, although we became desensitzed to it after soaking for a short while). the staff are extremely friendly and the breakfast was the best continental breakfast i have every had!! We also had access to the living room space near the main lobby which contained a small library, some games, and comfortable seating to enjoy the activities. You could walk around the beautifully manicured grounds or find a comfortable seat to enjoy the complimentary wine.
The only downside, for me, was the lack of ammenities within walking distance [well it is right next to the car dealership if you are looking to buy a new car ;)]. i would have loved to be able to walk to dinner and back to the inn. We enjoyed this place for our anniversary, but i probably wouldn't pay full price unless it was another special occasion ($200 for a weekday rate).
Overall a great experience!

“A Welcome Respite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

After a long drive on I-5, this is a great place to relax. Loved the hot tub in our room with natural spring water. The full breakfast in the morning, the scones and tea in the afternoon and the wine-tasting in the evening made this is a wonderful place to relax. We didn't have time for a massage but I am sure that would have been excellent as well. Ashland is full of shops and restaurants so there is plenty to do, all lit up for Christmas. A perfect stay.
