Was unsure about what to expect based on internet photos. Was pleasantly surprised. Motel is very cute, rooms are clean and confortable, staff very friendly and Timbers is in an excellent location. Will stay again. Enjoyed Great American Pizza right across parking lot and Market of Choice directly behind.

We did a summer road trip from Sacramento, north to Portland, over to the coast, and ending back in SMF, using budget hotels all the way. This was 1 of the 2 least pleasant places we stayed. The bed, pillows, and sheets were especially uncomfortable. The only thing that keeps me from giving it a "Poor" grade is that the manager gave us a deal on a second room, because hubby, teenage son, and I were ready to have a night apart from each other (after a few days of traveling together in a small car).

First, by calling ahead and reserving, we saved a bit from the posted rate on the web site.

As mentioned previously, the room we had is a bit worse for wear- showing its age. However, it was clean and comfortable for our party of three for the night. The bathroom appears to have had a little work done- it's average in space and function for economy accommodations.

It's not within walking distance of downtown and the Shakespeare Festival grounds. It is convenient to the Southern Oregon University campus, and there's a good organic grocery nearby... as well as a wafting aroma from nearby pizza parlors. Those ingredients may lend themselves to some loud weekend parties on the premises.

Pros:
Great location. Very close to downtown Ashland and all the action.
Convenient location ..near starbuck, pizza place, grocery store

Cons:
Rooms are worn and outdated
Pool is yucky
Breakfast/coffee in the morning only served after 8:30 am. And the breakfast is pretty meager/bad. Coffee--they brew one pot and leave. So if you are late you have to beg them to brew a second pot!!
Parking is limited..so you have to park in the neighboring lot..wondering if it is legal and if you may get towed.
There is only one hotel employee available all day (after 8;30 am of course) and their attitude is pretty much "I am not paid well" and "I don't care if you like this place"
One morning, with a DO NOT DISTURB sign on my door, I had a cleaning lady knock our door 3 times to see if she could come in???

It is a good low price..but the lesson I took away..you get what you paid for! Avoid it.
