“Super 8 Super sucks”

Place was not very nice. If you want hot water, run for at least 3-4 minutes. No tub drain.Mgr/ front desk clerk was notified of that fact, but didnt really give a darn. Place had maybe 6 cars in parking lot so we know they werent full and could have moved rooms for us, or at least gotten us a plug for bath. Have been in smoking rooms before(Ramada Limited in Windsor, Ont) and they were fresh and clean. Super 8 reeked of stale smoke as did the comforters which means they are not washed daily. They forgot to turn our phone on at check in so had no phone the first day.Rooms very old looking. Would never stay there again, I will rent a room from the Holiday Inn Express which is within walking distance of the Not so Super 8.It is true that you get what you pay for..

“Cannot recommend”

1. The toilet was not attached securely to the floor. You can easily pick it up. When I mentioned this to the front desk Saturday morning, I was assured it would be taken care of. Considering that this is both a safety and sanitation issue, I expected it to be fixed by the time I got in in the evening. It was not.
2. The door lock was loose.
3. The in-room safe was loose and did not have a battery so it would not work. Nonetheless, I was charged for it. The charge was taken off when I pointed that out, however.
4. The carpet was dirty, especially around the base boards and in the corners, and especially under the safe.
5. The electrical outlet next to the bed had no outlet cover on it.
6. You do not expect to have the best in-room coffee, but this was the worst I have ever had. It smelled dirty and tasted worse. I took one sip of it and dumped it. However, the coffee in the breakfast room was quite good.

On the good side, the staff was very friendly, the bed was very comfortable, and it was convenient to the interstate.

“Great place”

We've stayed at the Super 8 in Ashland several times. It's clean, comfortable and less expensive than most places in town. Plus, it's not far from the attractions in Ashland.

“Just About Adequate”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

After several hours of driving Hwy 5, I was tired and chose this hotel because it was less like a motel than others nearby, that is, no exterior room entrances and hallways. The room itself was comfortable if small, and the king size bed took up most of the space. Still, the rate was acceptable and a continental breakfast was included, so I checked in and wandered about. The floor I was on connected through a doorway to the upper parking area, but the security door that that was supposed to be "secure 24 hours" was not. Someone, presumably hotel staff, had securely taped a Super 8 business card over the key latch and the door easily opened without having to use the room key it claimed to require. Also, I picked this hotel because it has a no pets policy, yet I saw at least two sets of guests nonchalantly walking their dogs in the hallway. The breakfast was sad and minimal and the bench guests can sit on out front to relax was in such poor repair it threatened to topple over on its own. I sent an email to management about these issues after my stay and have heard absolutely nothing. So last time I stayed in Ashland I chose a different hotel with real, working security and a light breakfast delivered directly to the room.

Room Tip: Three floors, one elevator, poor security.

“Unable to meet very low expectations”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

I've stayed at budget hotels before, and understand they are a "you get what you pay for" type deal." however, this experience was just unpleasant and very overpriced for a 1-2 star motel.

the wi-fi was down, the sheets paper thin, the pillows lumpy, the bed was very lumpy/springy. and the room needed a good deep cleaning, i dropped something between the night stand and bed and it was clear this had not been vacuumed in years. also there was a large clearance between the door and the floor, so hall traffic is quite loud.

i was just here for a night, but still think i would have upgraded to a more expensive hotel. the lady at the front desk was helpful w/ directions/suggestions, and the pool seemed alright if screaming kids is your scene.

also they now send emails all the time, despite spamming them in my account, so annoying.
