I've stayed at budget hotels before, and understand they are a "you get what you pay for" type deal." however, this experience was just unpleasant and very overpriced for a 1-2 star motel.

the wi-fi was down, the sheets paper thin, the pillows lumpy, the bed was very lumpy/springy. and the room needed a good deep cleaning, i dropped something between the night stand and bed and it was clear this had not been vacuumed in years. also there was a large clearance between the door and the floor, so hall traffic is quite loud.

i was just here for a night, but still think i would have upgraded to a more expensive hotel. the lady at the front desk was helpful w/ directions/suggestions, and the pool seemed alright if screaming kids is your scene.

also they now send emails all the time, despite spamming them in my account, so annoying.

Everything needs a thorough cleaning & renovation. Though touted as smoke free-- strong smell of smoke in the bedroom.
Sheets very thin & blankets all pilled up from wear.
Shower had NO hot water.
Went to "breakfast" at the last 10 minutes.. I knew that pickings would be slim but there was not even any coffee.

I would rather give this a 2 as in AAA 2-diamonds but that means "Poor" at TripAdvisor and that would not be accurate.

Normally we stay downtown (Bard's Inn) or sometimes the Ashland Springs Hotel or The Palm but this trip needed to be on a budget.

Pluses:
- nice front desk staff
- price was reasonable
- comfortable bed
- good size in-room fridge and microwave
- shopping center almost across the street with grocery store, Starbucks, etc.

Minuses:
- Hall carpet needs replacing
- bathroom needs refreshing - wall applications, area around bathtub worn or coming off
- automatically add $1.25 daily fee for a laptop safe (but it was removed from bill at check-out without any hesitation by front desk agent)
- Approximately 2 miles from downtown Ashland (Oregon Shakespeare Festival, restaurants, etc.)

What you'd expect for a budget property (not minuses):
- small room and bathroom
- thin, poor quality towels

It's not where I would choose to stay again when visiting Ashland when my budget allows for something nicer and more convenient, but for a 1 to 3 night stay where keeping the cost low is a factor this would be a reasonable choice.

Our room still smelled of smoke in this non-smoking place. Beds hard. Try another place in Ashland for a quick overnight. Breakfast not so good. Cofffee burnt.
