My wife and I pulled in off the interstate and spent one night on our way home. Had we been staying longer I would have moved to a different motel.
The service at the front desk was very good. A young lady got us booked in without issue.
Once in our room we noted the following:
-The beds were comfortable and the sheets, etc were clean.
-The carpet needed cleaning, particularly around the border.
-There was no plug in available for my computer. There was a power bar into which the coffee maker, microwave and small fridge were all plugged into. The TV took the 2nd plug on the wall. The table was far enough away from the plug that a normal AC adapter would not have reached my computer. Using my own power bar I was able to plug in the TV and my computer.
- The free high speed internet had very good speed (bandwidth)
-We could easily hear conversations from the hallway. Checking the door we noted a 1" gap between the bottom of the door and the floor.
-very thin walls as we could hear muffled sounds from normal conversations in the next room.
-turned on the shower and noted the shower head was unscrewed halfway and spraying out in all directions.
-the sink & mirror are inside the small bathroom and left little room for one's shaving kit or case.
-at 5 AM the ceiling started creaking as the person upstairs walked across their room. It sounded like were they to jump up and down, they might come right through.
We left the motel at 5.50 AM. They have a 6 AM start on some form of breakfast. Nothing was out but it would appear from the stands that it would have been sweet buns, juice, coffee and little else.
Were this our first Super8 experience I would avoid any Super8. However we have stayed at some wonderful Super 8's in Onawa, IA, Brookings, SD, Omaha Airport area, South Padre Island, TX. But this place really makes one wonder how much Super 8 values their reputation.
