“Below Average Hampton”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 March 2011

I travel frequently for business and stay at Hampton Inns often. Prior to coming to the Hampton Inn Fairlawn, I was in Streetsboro OH on business where I also stayed at a Hampton Inn (much nicer than this one). Similar to some previous reviews, I found this hotel do be in dire need of an upgrade. The rooms are old and outdated. The furniture in the rooms is horrible. I dont remember the last time I stayed in a hotel that didn't have flat screen tvs. This hotel is definitely a downgrade from what i'm used too. Lots of restaurants/shops around the area, however, and the service is pretty good.

“About time for an update!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2011

i stay at hampton inns quite a bit but this one is a little below par. Older rooms, building seems outdated.

Great service though. Everyone is very nice and helpful.

Not worth $120 per night

“Can't trust the staff”

I was missing jewelry that was hidden in my bag. No restitution and no offer for at least a free nights stay.

“Fine choice: clean, friendly, near highway - typical Hampton Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 April 2010

We've stayed here a few times, and always return. There are some more iffy choices in the Akron (Fairlawn / Montrose) area, and this one is really your average Hampton Inn. The room was clean and the desk staff were nice. We had to phone the hotel itself for reservations (funeral rate), and they were quick & helpful. The pool looked fine although we didn't use it (it was used quite a bit by others). Breakfast was just fine - standard stuff + waffles + daily hot selection; sometimes better than others, but fine. Free Internet - fast, easy connection.

Location is also - you guessed it - fine. It's just off I-77/OH-21, so it's easy to get to Akron or Cleveland. It's near a lot of shopping and restaurants. The bed was fine, water pressure fine... you get the picture. I would recommend it - nothing extra special, but no unexpected problems either (sometimes, knowing you shouldn't expect any problems is all you need to know!)

“Hotel is good - service is terrible”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2010

I had a disappointing visit several months ago, but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and try again. On this visit, I was arriving in the evening and though it seems like a minor thing I was very anxious to get checked-in so I could watch a series I enjoy on HBO. I got checked in and every channel on the TV worked except HBO, I dialed the front desk and she told me to come back down and she would give me a different room, after all that, it wasn't working in the new room either. Although I was disappointed, I figured I would catch the next showing later in the week. The woman at the front desk assured me she would have maintenance check it in the morning. The next evening I eagerly rushed back to my room to catch the replay of the show and the HBO still wasn't working. I went down to the front desk and told (the same) woman at the counter that it still wasn't working and she called back to the maintenance man who said "ok, let me just flip the switch." If all that was needed was a switch flipped why wouldn't that have been fixed when it was first reported? Again, I know it's a small thing but as a weekly business traveler, service means a lot and this place hasn't delivered on multiple occasions. Other than service, the hotel is perfectly acceptable. The room was clean and had all the usual amenities and plenty of workspace, the breakfast has some hot items. So, if you don't need assistance during your stay you will probably enjoy the hotel and your visit.
