We have stayed at this Inn 15 - 20 times over the course of our daughter's time at college up until February '08. If we ever had a problem, it was taken care of immediately. I do not agree with one of the reviewers - I just think she was angry that her credit card was double charged because in all of the times we have stayed here, we never experienced any of the problems that she experienced, and anything that DID go wrong, was taken care of immediately. EXCEPT for the problem during our last visit. There was a PARTY of 5 or 6 young teenagers and at least one adult staying in the room next to us - they were celebrating one of the girl's birthday (I found this out the next morning). They yelled and screamed all day, whether it was in the room or in the hallways and played their music loud and made our stay miserable. We even smelled cigarette smoke coming from under the connecting door. It got particularly bad during the evening and I called down to the front desk a minimum of 4 times and talked to a young man. Everytime I called he did call the room (I could hear the phone ring) or go up there, but within minutes the noise started again. I would wait patiently to see if they would stop and after a while they figured out that it was us next door complaining. That is when the banging on the wall and the blowing of cigarette smoke under our door started and the music louder. When I called down to the front desk and told the young man that they were now smoking in the room, he went up there and asked them if anyone was smoking in the room and they said NO, and even tho he came into our room and could smell the smoke near the connecting door, he would do NOTHING about stopping it. FInally at 11:30PM, WE had to make the move to another room on another floor with all of our stuff from a 3 night stay. I am handicapped and have extra stuff that I have to bring on a trip, so it took 2 trips to get all the stuff up there.
The next morning at breakfast, I was talking to one of the employees who was working at the Breakfast Bar and I told her about all the problems we had the night before. And guess what? Her daughter was one of the party guests; the employee I was talking to was the one who rented the room for them; and she confirmed to me that her daughter had told her how loud they had been and how someone in the next room had complained and how they had planned on how they were going to get louder and louder to get even with them (us). I was totally shocked and she was terribly sorry and apologized over and over. She could see that we were nice people who weren't just out looking to complain over nothing.
Yes, we were not charged for the room for that night, but it didn't make up for the load of problems that we had to go through over a bunch of ruly young teenagers and their chaperone(s). We were good repeat customers - not that ANYONE should have to go through this.
Since we checked out on a Sunday morning, there was no manager on duty that could handle this kind of complaint. We had always dealt with Nancy, one of the assistant managers and were actually on a first name basis with her. When I got the survey about my stay thru email after we got home, I did write a full review of our stay and WAS SHOCKED never to get a reply. So, even tho our daughter does not graduate until May '10, we will NEVER stay there again.
