“Hotel not a European 5* but Staff and waiters 5* and more”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

As a first time family trip to Turkey with 9 & 12 year old kids, there was more positives than negatives! Negatives first, we arrived late and were told we had to have a disabled room for the first night as the hotel was full but found out later a family of 5 arrived early hours of following day and went straight to a room!Next morning after being shown two non-sea view rooms we noticed an empty room being cleaned and asked why we couldn't have that room over looking the main pool. After a 'stand off' we were given the room but we feel if we hadn't noticed the room we would of ended up in a 'back room'.
There was no Thomas Cook kids club and WILL BE NONE TILL THE END OF THE 2011 SEASON due to 'staff problems', there was a Turkish kids club which was ran by an English girl but had no booking in/out register and the public road was closer to the entrance than the beach!!!
Day time entertainment was good with sporting stuff going on throughout the day but the entertainment at night started at 22:00 and was sparse.
Don't do the Thomas Cook fishing trip it's RUBBISH!!!
The positives, staff were really helpfull, always a large selection of food in every sitting (breakfast, dinner, teatime and midnights snacks) so YOU WILL GAIN WEIGHT!!! with the waiters all trying to get to torres standard!!!!!
Drinks all day and all night with free soft drinks in your room :)
THOMAS boat trip (south) was a good day out, Naideen the rep (turkish del boy...lol)
We feel Turkey was very enjoyable and will be returning but to the hotel la blanche up the road ......very nice!
AND BEST OF ALL..... THE WEATHER

“Really Enjoyable holiday”

Me and my partner spent two weeks at the Yelken,it was a really enjoyable experience.Staff very friendly, and at no time were we made to feel any less welcoming because we were English. Our room was cleaned everyday, fresh towels and fridge re-stocked daily. We had no problem booking the A La Carte Restaurants, though you do need to give a few days notice. The ocean view was beautiful, and the breeze very welcoming. The staff in the outside restaurant didn't appear as well equipped as those inside, often resulting in them running around,a few times we had requested a drink,or missing piece of cutlery and waited long periods before they remembered. The food was excellent,my partner had an omelette every morning and waited no more than 5 minutes for it to be freshly cooked. The only down side which was at no way fault of the hotel was the lack of amenities outside the hotel,no where to take an evening stroll.A lovely holiday thanks to the friendliness of all the staff, cleanliness of the room and idyllic location.

Room Tip: Our room was very warm, rear room facing sea might have been cooler.

“Not bad, but could be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

Just returned from a family vacation at Yelken. Overall we enjoyed our stay there, but not because of the hotel or its staff, but our determination to make our stay a memorable one. Definitely not a five-star hotel, probably a solid 3* by European standards. Lived in a standard room with sea and pool view, which is average, a few things would probably need to be repaired and replaced in the near future. Clean in general, but spots of mold in the bathroom and small stains on the carpet. Clean sheets and towels. Rooms facing the main pool can be loud during the day and night, so not the best with families with small children.
If your kids enjoy swimming only then this is a hotel for you, otherwise I thought the Kids club was dysfunctional. A few times we went there, the kids were watching cartoons in polish. The building of the Kids club had some cracks on the walls and the ceiling, so because of the non-standard building design, we were afraid to sit inside. So instead, we just played outside in the playground. A few trees around the playground to create some shade for the kids while they are playing, would also be helpful.
Service in the hotel is good in general (not 5 star though), but probably worst in the main restaurant. Wait staff is not professional, not attentive and slow. Somehow, they identify their clientele, and serve only to them. For the rest it is self-service all the way. Some wait staff are absolutely non-professional, quite surprised to see them in a 5 star hotel. Dirty uniforms on many occasions. Observed a few times how wait staff were arguing among themselves and with the their managers – and all of this in front of hotel guests. The stairway adjacent to the main restaurant is a smoking, chatting, cell-phone communication and eating area for the wait staff (noticed this on several occasions). So people living in rooms 18, 19, 20 on all three floors, which are very close to this particular stairway do suffer because of this. The child high-chairs are in terrible shape and not in sufficient amounts, you have to search for them if you want your infant seated. Therefore, bad service in the main restaurant spoils the whole experience of otherwise excellent food. Food is probably the biggest positive that the hotel can offer.
The hotel compound is very small, no areas just to wander around and hide from the heat/sun and loud animation/parties. Sea view is excellent, and we especially enjoyed the breeze coming from the sea. You can reach the nearby city of Turgutreis by walking on the sea side or by public transport which is a short walk from the hotel. The shops in the hotel are extremely expensive, if you are in need of basic stuff, just get on a Dolmus and visit the nearby Turgutreis, there are a few supermarkets just by the main bus station.
Summarizing our experience there, we made it a memorable one for ourselves. The hotel staff was not prepared to go the extra mile, so I would probably not go there again.

“Almost perfect”

Almost everything was perfect during our stay there: great location, nice and clean rooms, tasty and a lot of food, wonderful entertaiment team. But, like always, there is a "but", we had a problem with the Reception Chief who tried to cheat us: even we've paid for a standard room, in the main building, he tried to give us a club room, in an annex (it looks like a 2* room), telling us that he doesn't have free standard rooms. Finally, after a lot of negociations, he gave us a real 5* standard room, but the smallest in the whole hotel. So, DO NOT ACCEPT A CLUB ROOM!

Another issue is that their Ultra All Inclusive doesn't really exist. They are selling a All Inclusive service like a Ultra All Inclusive one. Every foreign drink has to be paid. Also, the motorized water sports have to be paid, the SPA services also.

Concluding, we had a nice stay there, very good food, very nice and friendly staff (excepting the Reception team), very romantic location.

“thanks for salmonella”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

The hotel was mostly ok. Too much horrible behaving russians, and the location was too far from Turgutreis.

Our room was in an annex building, where all the junior suites (& 2 a la cartes) are situated. The sea view was perfect. Our 3th floor balcony was 30 meters from sea!.

Pools were not that ok. The main one was a bot too noisy for us. The pool with slides was quite horrible because russian chilren were terrorising the area, it was very dangerous to slide, because children run and jumped everywhere, and no stuff or adulds watching them. The best pool was the one beside our "annex", called relax-pool.

All sunbeds were reserved (again by russians) early (before 7 am). They booked the beds early in the morning or at night, and came to pool at 3 pm. Very annoying.

One time when I got up from the pool and took my tovel and started to dry myself, I made a mistake: I walked 3 meters away from the sunbed and turned my back for 2 minutes. When I turned back my sunbed was gone! Two men (russians again, surprised?) were carrying it to the other pool, and they were allready 50 meters away. Unbelievable!
I have to say that those russians also behaved like animals in restaurants. They totally have their own rules in lines & booking the tables etc. Horrible!

We stayded for 2 weeks and, visited both a la carte-restaurants. Both were rubbish, dont´t waste your time to go there for a decent meal. If You like to watch a perfect sundown & seaview then book a table.

Drinks in bars were watered and of course made from the cheapest stuff. I tipped the bar stuff every night and after first week started to get better drinks "from bartendes other bottle".. This didn´t bother, it was mostly just funny.

We still enjoyed our holiday mosly, but the hotel was definetly not a 5 star. Maybe 3 for real. Not going back. The hotel could be 4 stars if You haven´t been abroad before. I really don´t understadn those who rank it 5 stars..

It was our first time in Turkey, and I have to say that I prefer to pay some more, and go somewhere else .

When I got back home I got very ill for a week. I was diagnosed salmonella. I was the only one in our family who ate (a bit raw) omelette on second-last breakfast, and I was the only one who got the desease. Not funny at all, but good thing was that i wasn´t ill on vacation.

My advise is, if You go to there, pick another hotel near Turgutreis, which is very nice town!

Room Tip: Junior suites in 2nd 3th floor. for example room 5310.
