We stayed at the La Blanche in Agusut 2011, my wife, 16 and 12 year old daughters.
We booked with First Choice and arrived at the hotel. First impression on arrival was favourable - a huge glass fronted reception area overlooking the pool.
Check in was smooth and painless - no wristands on this AI holiday! We had a family room which overlooked the pool, which had two bedrooms divided by the bathroom. 2 single beds in one room and a double bed in the other with seperately controlled air con in each room - a Brucie bonus when your eldest daughter wants the temperature down to 0! The room was larger and conmfortable - unusual in that it is was carpeted, which I have not come across in many foreign hotels.
Pool was large - I thought that an early morning length (?!) or two would perk me up - it must be about 200m long! Getting a sunbed never seemed to be problem - although as usual there were the usual 'set my alarm for dawn' brigade who MUST get up on holiday and reserve the SAME sunbeds day after day after day - get a life! The hotel also had its own private beach - made use of that in the afternoons with a nice dip in the ol'sea!
There was the main restaurant, which was the usual AI buffet style free for all - I don't mind this at all, but what is it about people on holiday? Show them a buffet and they turn into vultures with ne'er a thought for anyone else? the food was good but I have had better - see Lara Beach and Atlantica Princess reviews. However........there were other A La Carte restaurants available that can be booked (Italian, Chinese, Turkish and Fish) but you can only book each one once per week (unless you're Turksih that is - deposit being told that we could only visit each resturant once a week, there was a Turkish couple in front of me one day booking several times!) Still good luck to them if they can get away with it. Tried them all and very good - especially the Turkish (red meat overload - forget it if you are a veggie!).
The hotel, gardens and rooms were kept spotless. The bar and snack areas too.
The entertainment team had a varied programme and there was none of the 'boom boom' music around the pool during the day -great for a relaxing sunbathe. There is a spa in the hotel but we didn't use it - we spoke to people who did and they ,loved it but is was not cheap. We booked a Turkish bath through First Choice which was cheaper than the hotel and was excellent! Also visited Bodrum - a lovely town but arriving at midday in 40deg heat not receommended - straight to a cafe for a long cold one!
The La Blanche is a 10 minute stroll down the promenade to Turgutreis which has some lovely restaurants and bars - try the Corner Bar (Billy the boat man will tell you about it) -we had some great nights there!
Try the market on the weekend (Saturday I think) - worth a visit as is the bazaar area of Turgutreis.
Overall a great holiday and I would return - why 4 stars? The food let the La Blanche down - it could be better.
