“Another gem found in Turkey!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

We stayed at the La Blanche in Agusut 2011, my wife, 16 and 12 year old daughters.

We booked with First Choice and arrived at the hotel. First impression on arrival was favourable - a huge glass fronted reception area overlooking the pool.

Check in was smooth and painless - no wristands on this AI holiday! We had a family room which overlooked the pool, which had two bedrooms divided by the bathroom. 2 single beds in one room and a double bed in the other with seperately controlled air con in each room - a Brucie bonus when your eldest daughter wants the temperature down to 0! The room was larger and conmfortable - unusual in that it is was carpeted, which I have not come across in many foreign hotels.

Pool was large - I thought that an early morning length (?!) or two would perk me up - it must be about 200m long! Getting a sunbed never seemed to be problem - although as usual there were the usual 'set my alarm for dawn' brigade who MUST get up on holiday and reserve the SAME sunbeds day after day after day - get a life! The hotel also had its own private beach - made use of that in the afternoons with a nice dip in the ol'sea!

There was the main restaurant, which was the usual AI buffet style free for all - I don't mind this at all, but what is it about people on holiday? Show them a buffet and they turn into vultures with ne'er a thought for anyone else? the food was good but I have had better - see Lara Beach and Atlantica Princess reviews. However........there were other A La Carte restaurants available that can be booked (Italian, Chinese, Turkish and Fish) but you can only book each one once per week (unless you're Turksih that is - deposit being told that we could only visit each resturant once a week, there was a Turkish couple in front of me one day booking several times!) Still good luck to them if they can get away with it. Tried them all and very good - especially the Turkish (red meat overload - forget it if you are a veggie!).

The hotel, gardens and rooms were kept spotless. The bar and snack areas too.

The entertainment team had a varied programme and there was none of the 'boom boom' music around the pool during the day -great for a relaxing sunbathe. There is a spa in the hotel but we didn't use it - we spoke to people who did and they ,loved it but is was not cheap. We booked a Turkish bath through First Choice which was cheaper than the hotel and was excellent! Also visited Bodrum - a lovely town but arriving at midday in 40deg heat not receommended - straight to a cafe for a long cold one!

The La Blanche is a 10 minute stroll down the promenade to Turgutreis which has some lovely restaurants and bars - try the Corner Bar (Billy the boat man will tell you about it) -we had some great nights there!

Try the market on the weekend (Saturday I think) - worth a visit as is the bazaar area of Turgutreis.

Overall a great holiday and I would return - why 4 stars? The food let the La Blanche down - it could be better.

“A Disappointment”

We holidayed at La Blanche in October with another couple finishing on the 20th. Unfortunately, the weather was not good to us during our two week stay, which obviously is nobody's fault. What was annoying was that due to this, the hotel proceeded to close their Al La Carte restaurants and we felt that the whole demeanour of the place went downhill towards the end as the hotel was due to close on the 31st. The restaurant was very much a bun fight and the food relied an awful lot on chicken. As for the wine - let's just say that it was pretty dire, but did get better once a few glasses had been drunk! Also, the coffee at breakfast was foul. Don't rely on enjoying the balcony of your room - they are so small with just enough room for a couple of chairs. Overall, the staff; the grounds and the facilities were acceptable but we have enjoyed much better in Turkey. Maybe it was due to the season coming to the end but we felt that things could have been better.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool as they seem to be the best.

“Almost a perfect 4* hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

My husband, teenage son and I stayed at La Blanche hotel for the last 2 weeks of October. On the whole we had a very relaxing, enjoyable holiday. The hotel is in a lovely location, overlooking the mountains of Kos and the sea views are quite stunning. A short stroll along the sea front takes you in to the small town of Turgutreis with its many restaurants, bazaar style shops and very large Saturday market. We had paid for an upgraded room and were very pleased as it was spacious and had a lovely side sea view and pool view. However, we were disappointed to learn that other guests we met, who had not paid the upgrade of £126, were in exactly the same room! (We have since requested a refund for the upgrade payment from First Choice Holidays). The hotel is spotlessly clean with, on the whole, friendly staff. (A big hello to Ozgur, Bar Manager, for the many long chats around Turkish culture and Turkish Tea - we loved that and learned so much about the Turkish way of life - thank you!).

Food in the buffet restaurant was always nice and plenty of variety; puddings are to die for. However, our biggest gripe for this hotel is the main restaurant area itself. As many have said before, it resembles a staff canteen and is really not a nice place to sit and relax to enjoy your evening meal. There is an inside/outside area (partially covered) which has lovely soft ambient lighting and nice decor, however, this is a smoking area of the restaurant (even though it is not actually outside) hence the smoky haze as you enter the area. This makes it impossible to sit and enjoy an evening meal so is not really an option for non smokers. The lucky smokers get to sit in the only nice part of the restaurant - a little unfair we felt!

The hotel swimming pool is quite stunning to look at, however, it was so cold that we barely saw more than 5 people in it in our entire 2 week holiday. Yes, it was end of season but the weather most days hit the 25C mark so people would have loved to use the pool more. Please consider some heating for the pool La Blanche.

As others have mentioned, the Beach Bar was closed down after our first week, leaving lots of very disappointed beach loving people (us included). The Bar is in a lovely setting, decked over the sea and was enjoyed by many during the first week of our stay. Sadly La Blanche decided to close it on our 2nd week and it was missed! I do think La Blanche need to rethink this before next year, customers have paid for a hotel with a beach bar and therefore have the right to be able to use it.

On the whole La Blanche is a good 4* hotel, in a lovely location, would I recommend it….if La Blanche listen to their many customers and sort out the main restaurant and pool temperature…. wholeheartedly, yes!

“holiday 5 star??????”

just arrived back relaxed and chilled but a few issues. we requested a sea view room but was given a room looking out onto a row of shops not very private couldn't really sit out on balcony. the food wasn't up to 5 star at all some nights really sruggled to find something to eat, it was to spread out so if you had to go from one side to the other your food was cold. entertainment was only on for an hour then nothing glad we were holiday with friends so we had company. went a walk into Turgutreis one night a bit frightening as most of the other hotels had shut down so very quiet and felt creepy. did go to bodrum for the day nice place went to the castle only cost 10 turkish lira which is about 4 pounds great value.bedroom was very spacious but there was just a sheet on the bed and it was very small, is this a turkish thing? would we go back ???? i don't think so.

Room Tip: make sure you get a sea view or pool view room

“Our Family Loved It!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

I've arrived back from this hotel yesterday and I enjoyed myself so much! I went with my Mum & Nan so there was 3 different generations who experienced and enjoyed themselves. The food was lovely, as it had a variety of different foods from pasta to lasagne turkey lamb salmon rice so they was no reason someone couldn’t eat at least one thing as it was a big buffet as well. The desserts were lovely too with a wide selection to choose from. The hotel itself was stunning, with a huge reception, lobby, downstairs bar and a lot of outside sitting areas. The only negative thing was the pool was very cold, but it didn’t spoil the holiday as only a few more steps down was the private beach, is where I spent all of the holiday as the beach was gorgeous and sea was warm. The people were very friendly and it a good family hotel with mini disco, entertainment shows and disco for my sort of age later on in the night. The entertainment was really interesting as it had comedy shows, amazing dancers coming from different countries and karaoke which was always a laugh. The animation & DJ were very lovely and weren’t in your face like some hotels I have been to in the past, they were very helpful and got you involved with games if you wanted to. They had a snack bar which ran throughout the day which was always good if anyone wanted to snack before dinner. I was very pleased with the staff and how it had a 24hr lobby so that when then disco finished at 2 you could all still sit and talk after as well as drink. Also another main element was that it was about a 10 minute work to Turgutresis town itself which was helpful when wanting to do a spot of shopping. Overall I give this hotel 5 stars because all 3 of us enjoyed ourselves and I would definitely go back and recommend to my friends as well as other family members.

Room Tip: Choose a family room if you would like the space but only if you have children as it has one double...
