“well worth a visit-great value for money”

Stayed from 06/10/11-17/10/11, With my husband and 16 year old daughter. 1st ever visit to turkey, so unsure what we were in for...Got taxi transfer from airport as otherwise you could be on coach for up to 2-3 hours depending on how many other drops there are, so well worth the extra, we arrived 2 hours before others on the same flight as us!!. On arrival taken to lunch as rooms not quite ready, but after flying at 5.35am UK time and arriving at hotle at 1pm turkish time, this was more than welcome. The food is mainly Turkish, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR THE EGG AND CHIP BRIGADE. Yes the food could have been hotter on occasion's, but there was a very good choice if you are prepared to try something new, with lots of fresh salads and pasta dishes...although the desserts, despite looking really yummy were pretty bland. Got fed up with people complaining who weren't even prepared to try, or even go out to eat...why these people travel abroad I don't know, but they were well avoided by most of the guests...After lunch we were given a choice of rooms and taken to look and choose which we prefered. the rooms were clean and funcional, (as a clean freak this is one area that always concerns me), the shower was very powerfull, as was the hairdryer, but the bathrooms, athough clean, could do with a bit of TLC. Our room was cleaned every day, bedding was changed every other day, and towles were changed every day...The location is a little out of the way, but that;s why we chose it, but buses and taxis are right outside so you can get to Town for 3TL each on a bus from early to pretty late and takes only 15 minutes. The hotel is maintained very well, the ground are lovely...we found the staff to be polite and helpful, We did travel late in the season (would suggest staying no later that mid September to really get the true benefit from this hotel)..so entertainment was very limited and little to do in the evening, unless you were prepared to travel to town. We met some really great people while we were there, one couple had been in May 2011 and rebooked on the basis of how good it was then, they did say their stay earlier in the season was better, but again, you have to remember that October is very late season for Turkey. the weather was OK, mid to high 20's when the sun was out, but we did experience some very heavy rain, another reason to not go too late...Aiyden's boat trip is a must, really good day out, and book a Turkish bath early in your stay to really benefit. the market on a Saturday is hugh and really great fun, but a few points to remember...You can ask a price, but if you haggle it is understood that you are going to buy, and they get a bit upset if you then don't. We found it a great experience, but really check what you are buying and take everything out of the bags and check size etc, and the spices on the fruit/veg market are amazing. Our daughter made lots of friends, the young male staff were attentive but no overly which was reassuring, and the night she went to X club with a group of guests and Ebo the entertainment guy, he really kept an eye on them and really looked after them well....could not have been more pleased...Uncles restaurant in town is really nice to eat at, (Even though this is an all inclusive hotel, do eat out in town, it really is affordable and you are treated very well)..and if there are a few of you they will collect you and take you back again, as will many of the resturants in Bar street..And try some of the little turkish cafe's where the local's go, you can get a kebap which leaves the english version standing for as little as 2.5TL. Also dont beleive all the hype about upset tummies, we heard of no-one getting ill while we were there....We would go back to this hotel without hesitation, but would go earlier in the season, and no later than early September. This is a good value hotel, and we were more than pleased with what we got for the money we paid.

Room Tip: We stayed in Erica block on the 3rd floor, there is a lift that worked fine, but is small and most o...

“'Fantastic Holiday, You get what you pay for'”

Well what can I say, after the eventful day getting to the hotel feeling tired and grumpy first impressions were not great. We were greeted and bags taken to our room. The hotel is dated but kept very clean and the rooms are spacious but balconys were small.

We went to the Golden Beach Hotel for the last week of the season, so it wasnt at full capacity. The pool area at night was very nice, and we spent most of our days nights by the pool and pool bar.

The bar staff 'Barman Stud' and others were friendly and funny. We went all inclusive and the drinks were good but I would imagine limited for some people, but if your happy with local beer (very good), Vodka, Brandy, raiki and wine you will be fine.

Breakfast I would say was the best meal of the day day. There is plenty of variety of food at lunch and dinner but one thing I would say is the food could have done with being hotter. The bread and the salad selection was great. The snack bar by the pool was also very good with a homemade pizza type thing, burgers and chips, which I recommend.

We had no problem with getting a sunbed, and if you are after a beach holiday then the beach at the hotel was not that great but only 10mins down the road was Black Beach which was lovely with watersports.

The animation team put on a few hilarious shows (especially the fire show), beach volley ball, darts, bingo, spa treatments, boat trips, disco's and would also run trips for the party people to X Bar in Bodrum.

The local buses are frequent into Turgutreis which is only 3tl, and the bus stop with the Bodrum buses is located right outside the hotel.

We had an amazing time, but I would say this was mainly due to the people that we met. The holiday was great value for money. I miss the fun and laughter and wish I was still there.

“You get what you pay for”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

just got back from 2 weeks in the golden beach it was fine.
yes the food gets a bit boring ok if you like chicken or lamb. biggest complaint the food was always cold to lukewarm.
the hotel is fine although most of the rooms had no views and very small balconys .
we where on the 4 floor and for the whole 2 weeks the lift was not working.
the hotel is miles from anywhere so not a lot to do at nigth
most of the staff where ok but overworked.
would not go back
but it was cheap holiday and you get what you pay for

“will go back next year”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

We booked our August holiday for our family and friends with a1 travel and on arriving at Bodrum airport had a 2 hour wait for transport to the hotel. This was down to Resort Hoppa, so don't use them, get a taxi instead!
The holiday was not spoilt by this as the hotel is a medium sized hotel compared to some of turkeys hotels and holiday villages and is kept clean and tidy. The gardens are beautiful with almost a tropical feel to them.
The rooms are spacious enough with plenty of wardrobe space & plenty of sockets for appliances. They were cleaned daily and we always had clean towels.
The restaurant had quite a varied choice of food all of which was of a high standard as we have become used to in Turkey. The staff in the restaurant got to know you and would remember what drinks you normally asked for, then bring them to the table for you.The staff worked so very hard.
The pools are kept clean and safe from any excess water around them. You have to be early to get a sunbed in peak season, about 7-7.30 am. (We have known Russians at other Turkish hotels set their alarms for 5.00am! ) The pool bar can be a bit hit and miss with the service but when there are a lot of people wanting serving the staff can not always remember who is next, so patience is needed.
To us the people who worked the hardest are the Animation team. All day long they are keeping guests entertained with the various activities. The pool games and dances are organised by Ibo who is very amusing and made us laugh with his quite unique moves for the pool dances, he is also the one who performs the Fire show which is excellent and should not be missed. Ibo and the rest of the animation team made our holiday more enjoyable and much more fun than we have had on other holidays.
We are hoping to return next year and hope the same staff will be there especially the Animation team. Golden Beach thankyou for a very enjoyable holiday
