“great position on beach-good staff-food ok-love Turgutries”

Ok-stayed here twice in 2011. Yes it is basic-but for £75 for two weeks who can complain with a beach on your doorstep-fab views-lovely safe swimming in sea-great for snorkelling.
staff all ok-owners could be a bit more interested-but just seem to want money and earn a living-eventually wanting to sell up-wish i could buy!
Rooms basic-but again for so little money there are no complaints-all the complaints on here-what did you think you would get for a few pounds a night? Go to Aegean Dreams for £1500 for two weeks if you want luxury!
Town is only 15 min walk along promenade-very safe walking on own or with friends.
shopping is good. restaurants are lovley-especially the turkish family run ones-Fatimas is fabulous-all the family involved-the best keebabs in the world!
so if you want to chilll out on fab beach and have a sunbed in the sun all day with lots of cash in your pocket to spend-then pay a visit. Book transfer with private taxi if want quick transfer rather than shuttle that can take while.
visit Kos for day by boat.
cocktails and shopping at the Marina is a must!
market day is good-be prepared to haggle!!
watch out for cheap tacky copies and keep your purse close to you-have fun and enjoy.
so budget hotel this is-rooms basic-shower is salt water (just there is water shortage so salt seeping into water system-not sea water filtered)! just rinse hair out with two litre bottle of water after each shower-simple.
Any problems report to reception-they will sort it-just ask and it will be done-don't just moan and expect it to be repaired etc.
no tv in room but dressing table/wardrobe space/plug points so the basics required.
will be back this year-booked already.

Room Tip: facing sea front=pay extra rooms at back over garden/quiet road are good too

“You get what you pay for.. overall good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

excellent for young couple or friends on a tight budget. The facilities are very very basic but lets be honest this place is dirt cheap so you bloody get what your paying.... deal with it! The staff are very friendly the reception staff are very helpful and helped with any problems we had. The location and views are fantastic the beach is connected to the hotel and there are plenty of sun beds, the sea is beautiful. Also it is a 10-15 minute lovely walk on the sea front to the main restaurant/market place ... avoid walking behind hotels. We are very happy with this holiday and hotel we saved a lot of money with the price...but like i said your are paying very little do expect basic but it is clean daily. One last bit we feel like we should warn you of a restaurant called cool breeze which is on the sea front on the way to the market. we were harassed every night by the person called eugine that reels customers in. people that stayed at cemre were targeted by eugine because they had to walk past his restaurant and they were all british. we understand that turkish people can pester for business but he was vile and made us nervous to walk past and feel intimidated overall he targeted us and everyone at cemre tried to avoid him.

“We enjoyed our holiday.”

August2--16
We had read all the reviews and took everything into consideration. We knew where we wanted to go, what our budget was and booked the Cemre accordingly! .
*The sunshine at the Cemre is just as hot as the posh all-inclusive hotels!
* The view is as good if not better than the posh all-inclusives!
Bed and breakfast leaves you free to choose where/when you eat lunch and dinner. This way you see more of the town and surrounding area.
We had a good holiday and as a base for a family holiday Cemre is perfect!

“Not as bad as the reviews made out”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

OK, let's start from the beginning, there have been some appalling reviews of this hotel.
First the good:
The location is perfect, on the beach, west facing and just a 15 minute walk down the promenade to the town.
The hotel itself is attractive enough, quite spacious, light and airy bar and eating area with a sun terrace above, a swimming pool and sunbathing deck and relaxation area in the shade. Reception with comfortable seating.
Rooms are quite spacious, freshly painted with balcony, dressing table, bedside cabinet, wardrobe, tiled floor and they either have a front view over the sea and islands or rear view over hillsides with some residential and orange groves. Plenty of sockets and lights. Bathrooms do the job, shower with sliding door, loo, washbasin with mirror and hairdrier.
Both sheets and towels were clean, in fact very white. Spare pillows and blankets in the wardrobe.
Now the bad:
Pillows were quite hard but were not lumpy, however my mattress was.
Fittings in the bathroom were somewhat loose, taps, towel ring, toilet seat but it was clean. Shower fitting was a bit corroded looking no doubt due to the salt water but there was always plenty of hot water.
No chairs on the balcony.
The lock on my door was not secure but it was repaired.
However the main problem only came to light when we had a really bad storm, the ceiling in my top floor corner room leaked. I came back to find 2 inches of water covering the whole bedroom floor. When reported it was cleaned as soon as the staff had finished clearing up in the public area, they worked tirelessly that day in exceptional circumstances. I have seen rain in Turkey many times but not so prolonged and huge volume with such violent winds. the whole town was flooded, trees down, beach and roads washed away in places. Unfortunately when it rained later in the day the room flooded again, finding a mop and bucket we cleaned up ourselves, however, a bucket under the leak would have saved a lot of time.

The staff were friendly, courteous and hard working at all times, I cannot fault them, any requests were dealt with straight away. We got the feeling that they were working to the best of their ability with a rather tired building in need of much renovation.
We had been told the evening meals were of good quality by someone staying half board and having tried it for ourselves we could not disagree, breakfast was the typical, Turkish breakfast with tea and coffee on tap, if you don't like cay bring your own teabags and use the boiling water. Overall a pleasant enough stay, the hotel was always clean and there were no other problems, if it hadn't rained I would probably have given it a higher score.

“Great staff - Hotel Needs Investment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

We set out on the 3rd leg of our holiday in SW Turkey with a little trepidation after reading the poor reviews of the Cemre in 2011, but approached the hotel with an open mind. We arrived early, before the rooms were ready, and were invited to wait in the Beach Bar - a welcome Efes was ordered and consumed. After 1 hour 20 minutes the receptionist came to show us to our rooms - the bags having already been taken up. The rooms were simple, with white walls - and white towels and sheets. No signs of dirt so far. The beds are firm, perhaps too much so for some - but ok for me. The balcony, with a sea view, was small - but we don't spend much time in hotels during the day, so this was no problem. It was noticeable that metal fittings in my room were discoloured and showing signs of corrosion - the result I believe of the salt water supplied to the rooms. Evidence of this was when I tried to move the shower head - it came off and the thread had almost corroded away - however after pushing it back in place the shower was ok - warm if not boiling hot. The hotel guarantees hot water between 8.00am and 10.00pm on a notice in reception. The breakfast was basic Turkish, tomato, cucumber, olives, cheese, bread, butter and jams - with coffee and cay (tea) on tap. A previous review suggested packs of dogs roamed the hotel, we saw the odd one, and always very friendly, especially if you had food. More evident was the cats, and particularly 2 frolicsome kittens - one had a habit of jumping in your lap and falling asleep - very cute.
The staff were tested when a massive storm hit - the hotel was awash, particularly our rooms on the 3rd floor as the roof leaked - something that should be addressed as part of a needed update of the hotel. Despite this the staff worked extremely hard, in very difficult conditions to sort out the problems. Overall the staff were the difference - if they had not been as helpful, and cheerful, then the stay could have been remembered for only the negatives. It is time however that the owner(s) of the hotel sorted out a much needed update of the hotel - which with its wonderful location could, and should, be an excellent alternative to the invasion of the all inclusives nearby.

Room Tip: 3rd floor is quiet but be aware that out of season the roof may leak if it rains.
