brill defo stop here again! this is my 11th time 2 turkey and they where the best appartments by far. The location is brill crawl across after finishing in the Roxy! The only trouble we had was the air con, 1st of all it didnt blow out any cold air, then it leaked all over my bed it seamed 2 work fine after that but then the next night made load noises and stopped. So after complaining they fixed it and it worked brill!!! Also the cleaner likes 2 et the rooms done dont try and pretend 2 be asleep becasue she will still come in and clean around u! but she means well.

It was the second time i stayed in the la maison and both times i have been, have been fantastic, the staff are great, can't do enough for you, great place to stay, this year at first there wasn't many brollys for shade which was quite annoying but then they went out and bought some so there was one to every two or three sunbeds so there was plenty of shade (if you wanted it), for me this is the best hotel i have stayed in in turkey and i have been to turkey (gumbet) four times.

  • Liked — quite central, lots of bars
  • Disliked — some noisy people in room next door, but quietened down after we spoke to them

“brill holiday at la maison”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2007

Using the internet, we booked this holiday (2adults and 2 children) on the Tuesday night and went on following Monday . We'd read the reviews, but still weren't sure what to expect. We used a taxi from the airport (£30), much cheaper than paying for transfers. Our first reaction to seeing La Maison was "oh my god, we'll get no sleep!" the apartments are right on a main street and theres quite a steep hill to climb, we were ok in our taxi as they dropped us at the door, but the coach drops you at the roadside, not good for anyone with walking difficulties or pushchairs. Back to the apartment, the kids slept in the bedroom, (pay for air-conditioning, it was £30, but you need it!) while we had the settee/beds, the rooms have double glazing which keeps out most of the noise, but you can still hear the bass. The bars turn down the music at 4.30am, when i couldn't sleep, i sat on the balcony people watching. The staff are great, John who made our breafkfast each day was always happy, and Jacob was quite happy to sit and play dominos with our 8yr old. The cleaner used to come about 3pm and do the basic clean and tidy. Main attraction was the pool, we loved it and you didn't have to fight for a sunbed. We ate at lots of different restaurants and never had a bad meal, go to China Town restaurant, not just chinese food also Indian, English, Turkish and Italian and The Corner Bar, food is fab, but not as cheap as expected, we averaged about £45 for starters and main course, and remember everything is on turkish time, in one place we waited 1hr between courses, (we didn't go back!) Gumbet is a really nice place to go to, people are very friendly and we're thinking of going again, yes we would stay in the same apartments
When its time to come home, bring your own water to the airport we paid £1.50 for 0.5lt bottle, everything is expensive.
Remember enjoy your holiday, WE DID!!!!!!!!

Superb Nightlife - Sharon and Amanda. Date of travel: Jul 2007

We spent the first night in Corner Bar Restaurant which is linked to the La Maison. We were told you get a 10% discount when you eat there. However we didn't all week! (but hey, it was only 10%)
We saw the cleaner a few times, when we did we told her we didnt want it doing anyway! Apartments are very basic but at the end of the day it sufficed for what we wanted it for, sleeping and getting ready to go out. All room's have double glazing so late night noise was not a problem, so long as you have the air con on. Pool very clean. Can not fault the La Maison.

Down on Bar Street is Alin's Restaurant, the food there was fantastic, priced well and we got great service without any hassle. You do tend to get a lot places beckoning you in with their banter, however Alin's didn't. Along Bar St the bars are plenty and are open untill 5am. It was normal for us to last till the end, would have been a shame not to! Our favourite was Shaker's bar and the X-bar but prefered Shaker's as X-bar was very busy and took ages to get served. We were well looked after in Shaker's, great staff and as far security, well erm that's another story! (excellent) Beach bar down at the bottom of the Street is a good one to start off in. Happy hour till 02h00. Just don't eat there as we got recommended by staff mixed meat kebab and another member of staff (Bozo) had to run up the street, order it and collect it! Ok it was greatly presented, tasted great but came to £37! Think we got robbed there.

A must is a Turkish bath. Have one the day before you go on a boat trip. The massage is out of this world - 30 minute one and I didn't want to get off the bed, felt like I had died and gone to heaven. You do tend to get hassled by the smaller bars and restaurants a little but just politely say no and that usually suffices. The beach is ok but not brilliant. We were advised to go to Bitez beach as it's cleaner and the water is clearer. Not too far away in a taxi or the Dolmus and they are running all day and plenty of them, not like over here in England.
Let's just say that YES, I would go back to Gumbet/La Maison again. Only got back home yesterday 9 July '07, so I will upload photo's when they are developed.

“Great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2006

After booking through Direct Holidays for a last minute deal, we were a little apprehensive about going to Turkey as people had given mixed reports. However, on arrival at Bodrum airport we were pleased at how efficient the backage was coming off the My travel flight and how the visa was so easy to sort out.

On arrival at the La Maison Apartments there was a slope to walk up but hotel staff are very eager to lend a hand and assist you with your luggage. The reception area was clean and the pool area lovely, with a free drink on arrival at the pool bar. The room was fine for a couple, although it would be a squeeze if four were going in one apartment. Clean towels provided regularly and a very sweet gesture of folding the towels into love hearts with a flower on our bed! There was a mixture of people staying at the hotel including old and young couples, families and young groups of people. Kitchen facilities would be a problem if you were planning to do any cooking, but obviously most people eat out.

Location was perfect, right in the centre just off the main road with a bus into Bodrum every ten minutes. Even though it was in the centre, we didnt have any problems with noise. The food in Gumbet caters very much for the English and is a very reasonable price. Chinese, Mexican, Indian etc all available.n If you have not been to Turkey before, you may be a little disappointed with the food as it was based around stews/hotpots etc. with the exception of the delicious kebabs! The resort of Bodrum does have nicer restaurants on the sea front that are not much more expensive.

We booked a few trips through Margaret Tours next door to Smileys. Make sure you argue the price! The 2day trip to Ephesus and Pamukkale is a must and the Hotel Halici you stay overnight in is lovely, with an outside thermal pool. The boat trip for 7.50 per person is brilliant also, out all day with food and go around 5 beautiful bays. Turgetreis market was the usual, hustle and bustle with lots of fake handbags etc, however the fruit stalls were fantastic and so cheap. Also don't miss out on the Turkish baths, do this at the beginning of your holiday so you get a good tan! Prices vary considerably so shop around.

Overall, for 161 per person for a week, it was a brilliant trip and we would recommend the La Maison Apartments to anyone.
