I went to this hotel with Sunsail, Club Javelin.
Everything was as I expected. Friendly, helpful beach staff, ditto for the local staff. The food was excellent and very plentiful, with the chef and his staff always very willing to explain everything - i.e. what's this, what's that?
Tea and cakes in the afternoon was something one quickly got used to - be careful, you could get fat quickly. No limits on this - just the time you have before clear up.
The accomodation, though not chic, was comfortable, clean and in good condition. One could even get english channels on the TV - as well as the sailing channels. I'm not sure whether there were any 'naughty' channels (guys) - I won't pay for nonsense, you see. My eyesight is failing now.
I had a slight niggle with the inebriated coming back late at night, ignoring the polite signs in the stairwell to be quiet and not disturb other guests. But, they will get their 'come uppance', as there is a price to pay for routinely ignoring courtesies, you get the same back. My room backed onto the stairs. There were quite a few babies crying, in the night, early morning and so on. Mums, please they are lovely, I know, but do get up and see to them when they've been crying for 10 minutes shouting 'mummy'.
The Javelin is a little isolated - though yes, you can get a taxi. If you care to walk along the beach 1/2 to 2/3 of a mile, you do come to other limited civilisation. But don't expect 'night life', except between the local stray dogs. I did see a rampant camel on the beach, early one evening. A bronzed Sunsail beach man attempted to make his aquaintance, but quickly withdrew.(?)
Taking everything above on board, would I go again? No! But as a first time I would say 'Yes' - make the most of all the dinghies, catarmarans, windsurfers, mountain bikes, yachts, tennis - and afternoon tea and cakes. There's also a good fitness room - I got the rowing machine up to 1000 calories per hour. Can you beat that?
Have a good holiday - and do understand and visit Bodrum. About 70% didn't - I don't think some knew whereabouts in Turkey they were either. Ok, it's only sunshine we really need.
