“Lovely apartments, no complaints.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

The apartments are clean, spacious and comfortable and are situated in a peaceful location. I highly reccommed them. The weather was amazing, 30 degrees every day apart from the day we left on the 9th Oct, when we had serious rainfall and flooding. It was pretty much coming towards the end of the season which was fine with us as it was very peacful.

“A silent , hospitable paradise that makes you feel comfortable in every manner.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

I stayed in Satsuma in July for 10 days for the first time. I enjoyed so much that I came back for a longer stay in August. And I closed the season in October.

The staff were very helpfull and smiling all the time. They were very keen on customer satisfaction. Whenever we call for help for a taxi, a nearby area search, an extra demand i.e. a towel, kitchen equipment they were very quick to suply it.
I read the negative comment below written by another customer who stayed here only for 2 days during my stay and I believe it was totally wrong.
I suggest this pretty and hospitable hotel for everybody who seeks for something beyond a typical summer hotel. You will feel at home. I will come next summer for a longer stay.
Thank you.

“A disappointment”

I thought that I had entered an alternate universe as my stay at Satsuma Suites progressed. I was so disappointed that I rechecked the TripAdvisor web site and photos to confirm that I was actually in the same place that was reviewed. Let me begin with the staff, although pleasant their ability to help was non existent. The only person who spoke English was not from the area so could not answer any questions. Others when asked about helping with car rental said "just go into town and find a place". When we notified a staff member that we had no hot water in the morning for a shower we got no explanation and found the problem was still not resolved by the evening. Then there was the room. Perhaps it was fitting that the clock was stopped at eleven for our entire stay. The bed was covered with a rough spread with no top sheet. In order to solve the problem I removed the duvet cover to use, it would have been foolish to use the duvet and run the air conditioner at full blast. The furnishings were modern but of poor quality. The outdoor chairs where we had breakfast were raveled which made me rather insecure while seated. When my husband requested orange juice for breakfast he was offered canned orange soda. Although the website photos confirmed we were at the Satsuma Suites the experience was dismal and in no way comparable to what others have described.

Dear guest,
We are deeply sorry to hear about your experience. As Satsuma's owners we value all comments and run inquiries about complaints. The results on the inquiry about your stay shows that your personal tour guide conveyed complaints about the location from your side. Although all the information about Satsuma in our website is accurate we are sorry there was a misunderstanding. Our records show that your room was upgraded to the garden suite based on our manager's sole discretion without an underlying reason other than uplifting your mood. We are sad to hear your comment about their ability to help given this fact. Our staff informs us that you were offered help regarding the car rental in return of a standard processing fee and were referred to 3 different options located in the city center for self-help option. Our records do not show any complaints about the hot water from any room including yours at the time, which is a situation we will be taking into consideration since it probably points to a miscommunication which cannot be an excuse on our side. All the fruits and vegetables used in Satsuma are naturally and locally grown, the period of your stay, end of September is a tough season to find fresh oranges, our staff informed us that they apologized for the inconvenience and offered the condensed juice as an alternative. As to the bedding, the cover you are referring to is called a piqué or marcella, made of 100% cotton and used in most of the Mediterranean cultures during summer time as the top sheet, but since we consider cultural and traditional differences we keep a duvet in each room as well. The clocks are the same in each room as part of our design standing for the notion that it is not too late nor early, you are in vacation where the time stops... We are sorry to hear that was not appealing to your sense of humor. As to our furniture we do not claim to have high end expensive furniture but we can say with confidence that we pick safe, clean and neat ones. As business owners we try hard to keep the balance between offering job opportunities to locals and have English speaking staff, therefore not all of our staff is English speaking but there is always at least one fluent in English. Our records shows that our receptionist who is one of the fluents took a leave of absence for two hours due to an emergency during your stay. We might owe you an apology for that, but there will always be some events we cannot oversee or prevent, although we will do our best to minimize them, which is why your comment is valued and we hope it will push us further to serve our future guests better.
Kind regards,
Reci Ozalp.

“Enjoy the silence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2011

We spent 4 days at Satsuma, I really liked the place. The ambience is very relaxing, the music at the pool side is perfect, the breakfast is very delicious, it is really above the average hotel breakfasts. The most I like at breakfast is tastefull tea and I found it there. The rooms are very clean. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. I think one word that is suitable for the hotel is, peace. If you are looking for a peacefull environment, Satsuma is the correct place for that. Sea is a short walk away, there are lots of beach restaurants there but Denizkizi Restaurant and Beach is the perfect one for sea and sun.

“How good is Satsuma”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

After a very busy time in Istanbul we arrived at Satsuma to an immaculate hotel that is very well maintained and full of very professional and friendly staff. The garden really is a hidden gem and breakfast by the pool in the morning was just perfect. Close to Bodrum itself but well away from it's madness, Satsuma is a five minute walk from probably 30 restaurants and cafes right on the waterfront. The rooms are a good size and very clean with great air-conditioning; appreciated in the heat of the Bodrum summer.
Highly recommended.
