on arrival reception staff were very moody and grumpy we got showed to out room and let in on walking into the room the smell was damp and musty floor was flithy covered in mud so when you took your shoes off you had dirt and anything else that was on the floor on your feet!!! where do i start with the bathroom soap scum was everywhere looked like this had not been cleaned for ages the toilet was black and grimy and felt dirty even being in there , the beds wer covered in stains and we had an infestation of ants in our room which was absolutly disgusting it would have been more hygeinic to sleep on the beach !!!!!!!!!! i could not wait to leave this hotel and felt like leaving as soon as i walked in the room i would not reccommened this hotel to any even if you are on a budget , there standard is disgusting and would not let an animal sleep in there let alone people ruined my holiday as your ment to be able to relax but how could we when we had ants all over the place !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We expected after reading the reviews the worst, but we had a great week at the mels. The staff were friendly and helpful, the manager Ibrinhim is a nice guy, very helpful and polite. Any problems were sorted out straight away. The room was basic but clean and the towels changed regularly and the beds made everyday. The breakfast was continental basic, but adequate. The beer and short prices were good, £2.00 for a pint and about £3.00 for a short and mixer (mostly doubles). I can say that the location is the best part of the Hotel, 15 mtrs from the beach and pool the choice is yours. For the price we paid I think the Mels Hotel gave excellent value for money. After reading the reviews about the hotel mels (or chinese mels, whatever) my friend and i were pretty apprehensive about staying there and we were really expecting the worst. We did also turn up late at night and there was confusion about our room which wasn't the best start.
HOWEVER we had the most amazing week staying at this hotel because we made the most of it! At the end of the day, you get what you pay for and we paid a reasonable price and got a brilliant service. OK the bathroom isn't amazing but there's running, hot water, clean towels, clean bedding and the hotel staff were incredibly friendly. I also read that the hotel was noisy....well if you don't want noise, don't go to Gumbet! No matter what hotel you stay in there's going to be noise from bar street but my friend and I weren't at all bothered because that was the style of the holiday we wanted to go on. Also, the hotel bar/restaurant is right on the beach which is brilliant! Again, the staff were fantastic and very attentive to everyone and they gave us cheap prices on food and drink so we can't complain at all. Also, a big bonus is that the pool is never over crowded so there isn't a fight for sunbeds.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends. It's not too expensive, the staff are friendly, we met some great people at the hotel because we went through 2wentys and we had a fantastic week. Just don't expect 5 star service from a 2 star hotel and you'll have a brilliant time!

It's right on the beach, the staff are friendly, the food is OK, it's a very short walk to the town and bars, it's only £10 per night in September, don't expect 5*.
It's at BEST 2 star but the rooms are clean. Showers and bathrooms a bit ropey but again you get what you pay for.
Been loads of times, people i know enjoy their time there.
