“Good Friendly Hotel and Great Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

We stayed at the Serhan on a B&B basis in Sept 2011. The hotel itself is really nice, friendly staff and meets all you're needs for a 3*. It's in a great location, about 100m from the beach and about a 5 min walk to all the bars and restaurants. It seems to be able to cater for all ages there as there was a good mix of people.

The breakfast is a buffet style and is the same every day. Bread, cheese, tomato, meats, hard boiled egg and omelette. It was more than enough for us but they will do a cooked breakfast at a charge. We ate out most nights but used the hotel restaurant on our last night. We both had steaks and they we fantastic. Would highly recommend them!

The room we had was a bit dated but was perfectly adequate for two people. The balcony was just about big enough for two chairs but we only ever used it to dry things on. It was a bit noisy at night, as you can hear the music from the nearby bars. It was never that noisy though to keep us awake and you can pay for the air con if you wanted to close the windows.

All in all, it's good value for money, very clean, good friendly staff and great location.

“Great 3 Star Hotel, Highly Recommend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

Just got back yesterday, from having 2 weeks at the Serhan Hotel. All I can say I had a wonderful time with my girlfriend.

The Hotel is located 100m from the beach from, and near enough the same distance to Bar Street, where all the action is for night time, Location is absolutely perfect, beside local shops for your beverages, newspapers and gifts. The Hotel its self is a lovely environment, the staff are fantastic, especially Devran and Ibrahim (Ibo) and the Hotel Manager, who helped us with anything we requested and for advice about the town and would make your stay that extra enjoyable. I made a special request for my girlfriend cause it was her birthday and the staff made her a birthday cake for her, which was beautiful, and was very cheap came to about 25 - 30 TL, it was massive.

We stayed at the Serhan on Half Board basis, Which turned out to be good for us. Cause with the amount of spending money we took we were glad we decided to go with that, although the food over in Gumbet is reasonably cheap, but for 2 weeks we simply didn't bring enough. The food its self for half board was nice, different variety every night, only complaint they used a lot of fruit deserts as part of your set meal. Every starter was soup, different every night, accompanied with salad and bread. But you can go with the Hotel Food Menu if you not fancy the set menu, which will cost, If so I recommend the Steaks.. Fantastic! but for dinning out I recommend reading my upcoming review of "Jacks Place".

Breakfast time on Half board is alright but could be slightly better, you have your hot foods of omelettes and boiled eggs. cold meats (chicken, 2 other meats) bread, 2 cereals (corn flakes, and coco flakes) you have coffee, orange juice and all your jams, cheeses, sauces to go with your breakfast, its all tasty but would wish to be more variety.

For lunchtime, they have a wee lunch menu offers which is good, can have any pizza with chips with a small beer or soft drink for 16 TL which was nice. Most of the time you get your moneys worth cause its quite a big plate full. I recommend the chicken kebab / meat kebab lunch time offer. Completely different to what we are used to back home, it tastes healthier believe it or not! lol. If i remember that deal is 14.5 TL and you have the same deal as the pizza deal you get a small bear / soft drink with that.

Our room was a Double Room of the "Promo Land View". Which is a lot cheaper we would have paid for. The room is perfect for your basic needs, Only minor complaints was our room was beside the Hotel Colossus DJ Booth, so we would have loud music played till midnight, which wasn't good if we wanted to have a early night... Also we had to pay Air conditioning for our duration, which was a must for us which worked out £5 a night. That was my only complaint regarding that. But other than that I have no complaints about the room, although the TV could do with more English channels lol but your never in the room to be fair. Shower is decent sized, Room gets cleaned every day and bedding gets changed ever 2/3 days.

The swimming pool is excellent sized for the size of the hotel. Great for kids as well, Hotel also provides Lilo's and Floats saving visitors wasting money on purchasing them. From 11am till 5pm is when you will get the best of the sun. We found the beach front more effective for sun bathing. But the hotel was more ideal in terms of going in the pool to cool down.

I love the hotel, I would highly recommend staying here for what your paying for you are getting that moneys worth. Only things I would they would recommend / do next time to improve my stay are.

* Free Air Conditioning
* More variety in breakfast
* Better variety for deserts in half board set menu
* I would have a room next to the pool.

Room Tip: Rooms 101 - 114 seem to be more spacious, ours was 211 was next too the Hotel Colossus Music area...

“Good Location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

we stayed at the Serhan on a half board basis for two weeks from 22nd August out arrival was at 3.00am we were asked to pay £35 per week for air con which was not made clear prior to booking. Our room was clean towels and sheets changed regularly balcony small and pool not as big as expected. Breakfast boring same every day we asked it we could pay the difference to upgrade to English and told no we would have to pay the full price also felt we some of the staff were not happy at us even requesting this . Also no choice for evening menu either like it or leave it most nights menu not in place until 10 mins before serving and mixed fruit for desert 8 out of 13 nights. Also as we had no evening meal on our arrival we expected to have it on our last night as we were not leaving until 10 pm even though we had paid for 14 nights half board we only received evening meals for 13. Sergi very pleasant and helpfull

Room Tip: rooms overlooking pool are quieter

“Great Value for Money”

This hotel was 3 stars and cheap. However we really enjoyed our stay. The room we had was spacious enough and clean. The facilities from our perspective were very good. A nice pool, bar and restaurant with sky TV to watch the world rugby cup! A bonus was free, fast wifi. We had an early flight out and they made up a breakfast pack. Only negative. We stayed twice. First time the room was quiet. Second time the disco from next door was a little loud.

Room Tip: Get a room at the back, away from the disco side of the hotel next door

“Good for couples, Good location.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

Stayed here with my husband for 7 nights last week. Nice hotel for couples, quiet and relaxed with a reasonably sized pool, you could always get a sunbed or sit on the giant cushions around the pool. We stayed in a double room on the top floor. Nice clean room but much smaller than we thought from photos. You have to pay extra for Air Con, I think it was £5 a day and you really need it during August! Rooms were cleaned every day, clean towels were given every 3 days but I did notice the bed sheets were not changed all week. Bathroom was sufficient, a good shower and there's also a hairdryer in the bathroom. We were booked as Bed & Breakfast, breakfast was the same every day; hard boiled eggs, processed ham, goats cheese, tomatoes, plain omelletes, olives, fresh bread, orange juice or coffee, jams & honey and cereals. If you want a Full English you have to pay 6TL. We ate lunch and dinner a couple of times in the hotel but I found the menu a bit boring, everything is served with fries and rice but this happens in most restaurants in Turkey, not just the Serhan. The Peppered steak was one of the best things on the menu! The staff were friendly, not too outgoing or personable but always polite. The hotel bar was pretty quiet and empty at night. The Surhan is in a great location, just around the corner about 20-30m up the road at the back of the hotel you come to a bar street full of shops, bars and restaurants. It seems the place to go for nightlife in Gumbet! The hotel is also only about 50 metres from the beach where there are plenty more places to eat and drink too.

The only problem we encountered was at the end of our stay; we asked if we could keep the room until 6pm, they said this was fine, didn't mention having to pay extra for this service at the time but then as we were leaving after our stay they tried to charge us 30TL for keeping the room. As they had not mentioned any extra charge at the time when we inquired we thought it was a bit bad of them to surprise us at the last minute with this extra charge, we refused to pay as we had no money left and although they had a bit of a grumble to themselves in Turkish, we wernt forced to pay.

Sun beds on the beach are free but are expected to eat and get your drinks from the restaurant/cafe in front of that section of beach. At night some restaurants take the sun beds in and put tables out on the sand which is nice, we ate twice at The Golden Knife down on the beach, (they do great Taco's!) The beach itself is ok, not golden sands or anything like that, it's more of a gritty/sand beach. There were always plenty of sun beds available, not very busy at all considering we went in high season.
