Lovely little hotel and with a bit more effort could be great. The owner is very down in the mouth, the little night porter, although nice enough, hardly speaks any English, so life is difficult, the cleaner is friendly until you don't want to buy her home knitted goods..... The lady in the kitchen was nice enough if you spoke to her. The barman was non-eventful....... Maybe we were unlucky that this was near the end of the season but why keep taking bookings if you cannot be bothered with guests ?
The breakfasts were poor even by Turkish standards and we have been going to turkey for 15 years sometimes twice a year....... The few lunchtime snacks we purchased were ok and reasonably priced.
The rooms were serviced daily but the towels were not changed often enough. The bedding could have been changed more often too. The towels were brick hard.
We only had hot water for showers for about 6 of our 14 day holiday. Thank goodness we had a kettle...
As a disabled traveller who had been allocated an upstairs room, when we eventually changed to ground floor 2 days later it was to a back room with no outlook but a wall and so shaded that our washing on the line on the very small balcony NEVER dried..... Think that was our punishment for asking for a change. We later discovered that some of the sunnier pool facing rooms had been available when we needed to move.....why didn't we get one ???
The saving grace for us was meeting some very nice fellow guests with whom we had a lovely time.
The highlight of the two weeks was our regular visits to the Yali restaurant practically across the road. Owners dilik and Michael are wonderful and sergen the waiter is quite sweet..... Dilik goes out of her way to make sure you not only enjoy being in her restaurant but helps you out with very many other things.....sometimes we would have been lost without her help as the hotel staff were the opposite. Bless you dilik....we loved you very much.
She got me medicine, charged my electric scooter ( when the hotel owner was questioning the cost of doin this ) and phoned our taxi company for us to sort out a problem with the date. She is a great person.....please go visit her restaurant as we know you will love it.
We will certainly return to bitez as the resort is lovely but I certainly would be looking for different accommodation......... It's such a shame as with a little bit of effort this hotel could be lovely.
