“A great find!”

My husband and I stayed at the Aegean Gate in July/August 2011. We loved it! Bodrum is a great place for families, as Aya Napa it is NOT, and this hotel really made it special for us, as it ticked every box - small, clean, pretty, quiet, within easy walking distance of the centre and staffed by friendly owners who liked to have a laugh! In fact, we'd like to be able to transport it to every other resort we visit on holiday!! We had the best room for the view across the bay (see the pictures on their website - the one that overlooks the pool looks like it was taken from our room) and, because there are only 6 bedrooms, there is little chance of your holiday being spoiled by lots of noise from other occupants...having said that, you are at the mercy of the wind being in the right direction, as when it's in the wrong direction, you get the morning wake-up call from a large hotel near the beach, a couple of hundred metres away! However, Gary and Rory more than made up for this and their staff, Mahmoud and Fatima were always cheery and helpful. A word of warning...if you don't like cats and dogs, stay away from this hotel, as the animals there are really Gary and Rory's family! However, we didn't mind one bit and will certainly be going back for more!!

Room Tip: Ground floor room do not have a view, they just go out onto the pool area.

“A super hotel with spectacular views”

This is an excellent small hotel for a visit to Turkey. The stunning views from the balconies and the hotel grounds are wonderful. Gary, Rory and Mahmoud do a great job as hosts and the service is excellent. The rooms are spacious, spotless and comfortable. Although ground floor rooms do not have a balcony they open out onto a patio and the pool, and are a bit bigger than the others. So don't worry if that is all that is available. Overall, we had a super holiday at the hotel and were made to feel very welcome. We would definitely return. All the positive reviews elsewhere on the site are well deserved and we concur with all that they say. Well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Upper floors have balconies, but the ground floor rooms are slightly bigger and are very well appoin...

“A Wonderful and Magical Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

My partner and I picked this hotel as it was No. 1 on TripAdvisor - and even then it exceeded all our expectations! The warm welcome from Gary and Rory makes you immediately feel at home. They provide you with a map of the area and point out places of interest, including recommendations for various restaurants and cafes – these recommendations are always ‘spot on’. We had a suite on the top floor with separate bedroom and living room – there was also a large balcony with stunning views out over the sea and the town of Bodrum. Besides the excellent service provided by Gary and Rory, what makes the Aegean Gate ‘magical’ is its setting on a hill overlooking the town with a very large rock outcrop forming a backdrop feature to the garden and swimming pool area. This is lit up at night and really provides a ‘wow’ factor!

This hotel is so comfortable and so charming we decided to just stay by the pool some days - even in October the weather was hot. Although the hotel only provides B&B, we had some great lunches there organised by Rory – he arranged for a local restaurant to deliver lunch and helped choose our food (probably some of the best value meals we had too!). This really added to the wonderful experience that this hotel provides. As others have reported, Gary and Rory take in and rehabilitate stray or injured cats and dogs, so if you like animals, you are in for a treat – if you don’t, no worries as the animals won’t bother you. But trust me – the cats and dogs really add to the experience of staying in this magical hotel.

We don’t usually get involved with other guests in hotels, but the way Gary plays host at the charming poolside bar in the evenings just facilitates an easy social mixing – or maybe it’s the effect that staying at this hotel has on people that they just easily interact with others and share the ‘feel-good’ factor! Staying there was wonderful and magical experience!

Just to stay at the Aegean Gate is a reason to return to Bodrum!

“The Place to Stay in Bodrum!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

Hello Everyone,

We stayed only 3 nights in room 6 with stunning views of the harbor and the hills and we had a hard time leaving our room & terrace...the view, the rooms, the terrace...and of course the people who own and run this place are the key to its success.
It takes hands on managers/owners to know the details of what makes a traveler truly comfortable and I might add so comfortable that they have a hard time leaving the place ...now that is the real proof that this place is amazing -spotless in /out of the rooms,terraces,hallways,pool,chairs,steps...cant find dirt or faults...This place has a stunning location but the credit must be given to the owners for the tasteful design ,most practical and comfortable furnishings, the soft and lovely colors carefully chosen down to the curtains, light switches, doors, windows and hinges.
Ok, so the masters of the magic are: Gary,Rory and Mahmoud and a lovely lady who came daily to clean our room...Gary with all the details-best restaurants, arrangements to be picked up and driven home after an evening out,Rory with our meals ordered from their menu and delivered with most care by Mahmoud to our terrace by sunset with perfect drinks, and plates picked up by him once we were finished eating right from our terrace ...wow
Mahmoud also took care of us every morning by arranging our breakfast and delivering same..so what else can we say ..one word PERFECTION!

Thank you very much for their kind hospitality and would love to return next September to find PERFECTION.

Hanna & Alan- NYC

“Fabulous Stay”

it is difficult to add to the reviews as it has all been said before. Gary, Rory and Mahmoud treat you like family and their tips on great local restaurants and places to visit are spot on. The Aegean is more like a B&B with only 6 rooms and ample opportunity for you to meet and talk with the other guests if you wish to do so. As noted on their website if you are not animal lovers then this may not be the place for you but for us Sampson, Grandad and the many cats made it feel more like you were staying at a friend's place. We had a ground floor room for 2 nights which we thought was great as it had a lovely outdoor area next to the pool but I have to say that a move for our last 2 nights to the top floor gave us the most amazing views over the water. Bodrum was a highlight of our recednt oversease trip and our 4 nights with 'the boys' was a real highlight.

Room Tip: Rooms 1 and 2 are poolside and are good if you do not like stairs. Rooms on the mid and top levels h...
