Club Med in Bodrum is set within a mature landscape of trees and shrubs at the top of a hill with lift access to a private beach. The guestrooms are housed within blocks of 8 and all have garden views and nice large balconies. I would imagine that very few overlook the sea due to the height of the trees. The decor of our basic room was basic, yet not unattractive. The furniture was a light faux-wood with plenty of storage, the bed comfortable and the shower fine. I was slightly dissappointed that even though recently refurbished their was absolutely no character or personality in our room. No tea or coffee making facilities, and also if you wanted anything other than water in your minibar, eventhough it is an alll-inclusive resort you had to pay. There are two restaurants the larger open at all meal times and a big thumbs-up as they managed to alter the offering and presentation for each dinner. The food was imaginative and of excellent quality, and the house wine was fine. The second 'beach' restuarant served a good lunch overlooking the sea each day, but the evening menu could be changed more frequently (we ate there on 2 consecutive Friday evenings and the set-menu was the same).
Loads of activities - really something for everyone I would imagine. We stayed 9 days and were unable to get a sailing lesson at all as they only take bookings for the same day and all slots are taken within 5 minutes of opening. We had actually booked this holiday for the sailing so were pretty disappointed. When we took the boats out without an instructor we only had to queue for a max of 15 mins.
There was the usual towels-on-sunbeds by 8am and then people not showing up until noon, but hey-ho, it happens everywhere. All-in-all better than expected but shame about the sailing tuition.
