No one's reviewed this hotel in a few years, which is not to say it no longer exists. (Though, I had my doubts as several emails and phone calls to the hotel before our arrival went unanswered!) While the very sweet Osi picked us up in Bodrum with a smile, willing to stop at the ATM for us, and even some sunscreen before the 20 minute drive to Turkbuku, he barely spoke a lick of English making communicating very difficult. Upon our arrival at the hotel, which is well-maintained and charming with beautiful bougainvillea trees and a clean pool, we were shocked to find that the place was empty. Not another guest. I don't think this had much to do with the hotel itself, but rather that we were there at the tail end of the season -- an unfortunate factor for us. Nevertheless, the rooms are dark and small and the beds a tad uncomfortable, so even if it were more bustling, I'm not sure we would've been happy with the choice. Plus, contrary to what the web site says, the hotel is not in Turkbuku, but in Golky, which is a 5 minute drive, but a long 20 minute walk. So if you're looking to explore the small beach town where there are other restaurants and boutiques (though, again, don't go in September -- it's a ghost town even though the weather is still delightful!) than this is not the place for you. Also, they don't have their own beach club, rather they use the docks of another hotel on the water in Golky, just a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
All that said, Osi and his friends tried to do everything they could to make us feel welcome. When I forgot my book at the hotel, he went back and got it for me. He drove us to Turkbuku and arrived to pick us up with flowers. Most of this was "free of charge" and done with a smile. Service-wise, it was top-notch, if not a bit over-the-top at times!
For the price, I suppose it's a good deal if all you're looking for is relaxing isolation, a basic room, a pool and a short walk to the beach. But be warned: Communicating will be hard. In fact, we spent a very funny hour talking to each other via Google Translator! All in all, it just wasn't what we expected.
