“Never Again at the Ayhan”

Stayed at the Ayhan early August first room (number 14) we had bathroom was that small you could sh.t shave and shower all at the same time. Asked to be moved was told could not do so as no rooms spare decided to call the rep to complain was moved the next day with the owner begging that we spoke to him direct. One week was enough at this hotel.

The web site for this hotel is so misleading the rooms shown there are those in the separate annex not the main building.

Did spend some money in the bar but paid as we got served one couple were handed a £300.00 bar bill so best advice pay as you go.

Swimming pool an Olympic size foot spar is the best description.
Staff the owners older sons were OK and the youngest aged about 12 started work at 8am until midnight was very helpful.

Breakfast cucumber, tomato, bread, jam, cheese and butter.

Have checked the Thomas Cook web site this hotel is not showing up for next year thank god.

The rep well would have got more info from a 5 year old told us she was leaving in the next 3 weeks her attitude showed this.

Meet a nice couple spent most nights in the main part of the town where there is a good selection of bars and restaurants.

Gumbet is a very nice place and will be going back next year but not to the Ayhan.

Did the last day cruise and was transferred to the Dilek Hotel which is also a 2 star what a difference the room was a big improvement and the staff were very good.

SUMMARY AVOID THE AYHAN and have a good holiday.

“DO NOT STAY HERE! TERRIBLE!!!”

Well what can I say? Hotel from hell, we arrived at 7 in the morning and was greeted by the owner (topless fat man). Who moaned at us because our flights were delayed and then didn’t even help us with our bags. Took us to our room where we were promised a double bed and got two singles!! Had to share a balcony with noisy teenagers, toilet was broken and the pool was as big as a kid’s paddling pool and was always in the shade!

We paid for bed and breakfast and all we got for breakfast was bread and butter, and had to pay for any drink which the owner didn't tell us just left us with a fat bill at the end. You have to pay for the air con which takes 4 hours to kick in; there were about 5 sun beds so no chance of actually sunbathing at this hotel! If you don't pay for anything at this hotel the owner will not take notice of you, he favourites the drunken guest who spend a fortune at the hotel.

No disabled facilities at all!

The owner is a money grabbing greedy man!

Gumbet is a lovely place do not let the Ayhan hotel ruin it, stay somewhere else!

Stayed here for one week, breakfast is a bit of bread and butter, you have to pay extra for orange or water! and they wont tell you untill the end! , You have to share a balcony, I have a bath that is bigger than the swimming pool which is always in the shade...Owner gets drunk most nights and is very loud and does not make you feel at home one bit!....HOTEL FROM HELL!.........you have to pay £4 a night for aircon which takes about 3hours to kick in.... Just an awful hotel, Should be a 0 star!

“Hmm.. really unsure about this place..”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2011

I have just got back from a one week stay at the Ayhan and I can say that a week was long enough. I'm not a snob.. I'm far from being one and after reading some positive reviews on here (even though there was some bad ones) I was positive in what to expect from the hotel and I really wasn't expecting much at all which didn't bother me as I didn't pay much.
On arrival we got a warm welcome from the small children working there which was really nice after a long flight and we felt really welcome. It started slowly going downhill from there. We got into the room which looked fine, simple and clean - just what we were looking for till we went to the bathroom. The toilet chain was broken and came completely out of place leaving us holding the chain! We had to have it temporarily fixed for it then to break again a few days later. Another down side to the bathroom was that the shower hardly worked, it took so long to get a shower due to the lack of water being released out of the shower head.
Even with these negatives on the first night I was still positive as it is just a two star hotel and as I was told not to expect much I was willing to carry on giving it a go.
We met another couple on our first day and they both had positive things to say so I started feeling a lot better about the place. The pool was clean and not too small and we pretty much had it to ourselves which was nice and it was quiet around that area. The hotel was lovely and quiet through the day but on a night after 12 o'clock the noise was shocking. We was in a room opposite where the sun lounger area is and the noise from the music from the reception was making the bed shake! The reason because of the noise is that the owner was receiving a lot of money from a group of teenage boys buying drinks and paying him to play the very load music having no consideration for his other guests. I think as long as the owner is getting money he doesn't care what happens as people who have write previous reveiws are right he is a money grabber. The owner at the hotel tried scamming one of the couples (by asking them for 50 lira for a ''tab'' they never set up with the owner) we got talking to and humiliated them infront of everyone in the reception which I think is horrible for them to have to come back to that hotel and see those people they were humilated infront of..
He seemed to pick his favourite guests (the one giving him the most money) and only seemed to bother with them, completely ignoring the rest of the guests which I think is ridiculous. The owner is a selfish, greedy, money grabber. Some of the people who lived there (his family) were very inconsiderate towards the guests. We felt as if we couldn't do what we wanted to while we were there especially in the pool. If we were in the pool and one of them got into it, it was like they would do there best to drive us out of it. yes, fair enough it is there home, I know but they should respect the fact that people are going there for a holiday as we respected it as their home.
The hotel and most of the staff are nice it is just a shame about the owner and some of the people he had living there.
Gumbet is an amazing place to go and I will definitely be visiting again, it is a shame I can't say the same for the Ayhan.
You will find better places to stay in Gumbet. The Ayhan is a cheap place to stay but the owner will make it more expensive for you!
