“Gardenya Hotel Bodrum - total disappointment - an unfortunate choice, which thankfully lasted only one night”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2011

After a stay in Antalya, along with another family of friends I decided to see the famous sights of Turkey, located on the Riviera, after an unforgettable night spent in the Fethiye, the Hotel Club Turkuoaz where I was received very well by workers of the hotel, I went to Bodrum, the birthplace and Herodotus, where no one of the seven Wonders of the Ancient World - Mausoleum of Halicarnassus.

I made reservation through booking.com to Gardenya Hotel located on Dr. Mumtaz Ataman Caddesi Mahallesi Umurça Rasattepe sk. No: 6 Bodrum, the hotel website: http://www.gardenyahotel.com/list/list.asp?ktgr_id=354&dil=6

After long searches on the Internet, we concluded that this hotel is ok for one night, but wanted us to stay in Bodrum, few reviews of this hotel plowing ok, no big claims, said that there pool, breakfast (open buffet - as booked) ... everything seemed perfect.
Like I said, I arrived late at night in Bodrum, tired after my drive from Oludeniz / Fethiye, Marmaris passing and the (absolutely gorgeous city (very stylish) and the promenade is superb), the Hotel Gardenya us met at a reception tall guy with glasses who by smell I think she was afraid of water, not to mention soap as a product of the unknown. The man took us by appointment papers, passports, telephone calls and began to shake, finally told me they do not understand why I booked a room with three beds and I gave him four passports somewhere suggesting I should pay for the fourth person, I tried to made it very like the section "Conditions accommodation" in black writing on white booking.com reservation for children under 6 are not additional fees, if sleep in existing bedding, I am cautious man preferred to reserve a room for 3 beds in conditions in which the subject could easily and painlessly room with 2 beds and I fit perfectly in the conditions imposed by them (I forgot to mention, I was accompanied by my wife and my daughters 5 years - twin). Finally we managed to clarify Turk, after reading my book, surrendered, gave me the room key.
Hotel situated on a hillside town of Bodrum, offers a splendid view over the harbor, the castle, beautifully lit at night, simply furnished rooms with furniture in most of them full of moisture on the walls you could read the history of the hotel, you could see traces bloody struggles of the victims were staying in that room and legions of mosquitoes invading, I caution, I decided that I will fight them using chemical weapons (prohibited by international treaties, which most nations of the world are signatories), down the car, I fitted one piece and a pill to kill mosquito device, all the context, even the beds were clean linen, without reproach from this point of view. The room had windows with wooden frame, painted blue, which at my insistence to open, he gave up, I just stuck with the handle opening in the hand, there is also a balcony overlooking the swimming pool, nice, but rather uncertain. Continue, bathroom ... very dirty, the toilet about brown color, probably was white when it was new, clean towels appeared, but honestly we did not dare to use them. In the middle of the shower trays throne a huge blue bowl, I was initially shocked by the picture (what to look for a basin so great in a hotel room?). Strange, very strange.
Finally, after we sat in the room, I wanted to descend to the restaurant to serve something, stupor, was closed ..... 22.00, across the street is a tiny restaurant, am dining there, quite expensive, and offer food, a little small. For children, I hardly managed to combine something required or accepted by them.
After well-deserved sleep in the morning I went down to breakfast, I found the reception a lady who knew English, and that my question where breakfast is served began to shake his hand, even skunk who greeted us at the evening reception is not there was, I finally understood where breakfast is served, but stupor, arrived there I noticed that there was nothing set up for breakfast (open buffet - according to documents from the reservation). We faced a guy who invited us to take place at a table after waiting approx. 3-4 minutes came to our table with three plates of food (specific breakfast) and another empty plate.
I asked what brought us the empty plate, the answer came promptly, you pay a 3 bed room, so get three breakfasts. Good theory, but practically it was not correct .... I wrote the book in black and white, OPEN BUFFET - wrote this in my book, so I paid for it. I said this thing and shrugged and left. Right, was to present the situation and ask me before, may still want to buy a breakfast, that if I knew that's the case work, but faced with this very strange behavior from people who should be behave differently with tourists, we left the discussion, I am satisfied with what it was. Extremely small portions, with olives counted (each 8 (4 black / 4 green)) in each of three plates, one slice of cheese (very salty), 3 slices of salami Turkey (very strange taste), a cube of butter and a box with tiny jam, bread, 3 cups orange juice (chimicale. .. of course) and 2 coffee (Nescafe).

I thought after all this randomness, I may have something wrong, can I read good few Reviews of tourists were at Gardenya Hotel, maybe I made a bad choice to book - certainly. It is unfortunate that a write instruction sheet of reservation sites and thus the hotel's own website and when you get there find that you get nothing. Unfortunately greed of those who gave evidence at Gardenya Hotel in Bodrum, well, not my expectations about them were not great, but we hope that undeniable beauty of the city where they live, to be reflected in their soul and beyond , to convey tourists to step into. Strange behavior, of these people makes it inevitable to miss in the future, as I said above, pity the beauty of Bodrum.

My family does not recommend this hotel.

“Good enough for budget holidays”

We stayed at Gardenya two times. Ideal for both families and young people. It has clean and cute rooms. Easy acces to town center and Bodrum night life. 6 minutes walking to bars and restaurants. No need to worry about to miss last mini bus from town center at the end of your enjoyable night. We stayed at studio rooms, you can find evertyhing you need to cook in this room types. even wine glasses!!! Small but lively swimming pool surrounded by pink flowers and typical white Bodrum houses with blue window frames. You can order your coctail and meal while sunbathing at the lively poolside. Really good chioce for budget holidays.

“great time at Gardenya”

As two female uni students going away it was perfect for what we needed. Site was as expected, rooms were small but ideal for our needs, found no problem with the beds or shower. It is ideal for both young people and for families, there was a great mix of people in the hotel
Found the staff incredibly friendly, helpful and utterly charming, especially Sergio (I am shy) and the lovely cleaners who sympathised with our hungover state! Pool was a decent size with plenty of sunbeds available, but as the hotel is so close to the beach we also spent a lot of time there.
For us it was idyllic and exactly what we needed, sun, cheap drinks and sea! we will be back for sure!

“Disappointing 2010 Visit Rundown facilities surly owner and his brother”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2010

I was happy with my 3 month stay in 2008. This year not so. After 2 weeks of no service I was told that I was not entitled to room cleaning and linen changes as I had a good price of 800 lire/month. A tourist from Australia was offered 2 rooms with a view (mine a pokey one room) for 500 lire/month!! I heard MANY complaints from guests about dirty conditions broken down equipment and disinterest from some staff. The owner's wife was rude to me about not using their limited stock and higher priced shop which at the time had NOT even opened! Also one of the brothers working occasionally in the shop NEVER smiled or spoke! He and the owner looked thorougly miserable about life to be honest!
