“Fantastic view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

Just got back from 10 day break on the whole the Hotel is fine "BUT" a lot of little things let it down badly When we arrived there were no towels in room and that was after climbing 77 steps to get to it although the views were stunning once you had got your breath back. Staff ok but not very good with english the power in the rooms is a bit intermitent had to have that sorted a couple of times and the safe had a mind of it's own. If you go don't try walking into Bodrum its a very steep hill and a busy road BUT do use the water taxis which call at the Hotel about every 10mins a fantastic ride into the marina in Bodrum all for 10TLR.

Room Tip: make sure it hasn't 77 steps up to it and don't expect HOT WATER

“Never again... very dirty place”

This "4 star" hotel is failing in many things including 'clean towels' 'on time service' 'smile' 'clean bathrooms' 'service in general'
Staff is so unhappy and unwillingly doing their job because they are expected to do more than they can handle. As a result they are very bitter and slow in service.
Nobody seems like they would like to listen your problems and try to help.
A lot of guests including us left the hotel earlier than planned.
No way I suggest the hotel to anyone.

“Clean, quiet, scenic bay view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2011

Mavi Hotel is so far best four-star hotel I've stayed in Turkey.

In spite of uneven reviews I've chosen it for our recent family vacation with our 4 y.o. daughter. We all liked it. The best at Mavi hotel is: location with a scenic view on Bodrum bay, very friendly staff even though only a few waiters spoke English and the receptionist Mehmet who has the best English of all staff we've met.
Great breakfast: yoghurt, vegetables, fresh fruits, cheese, olives, eggs, crêpes or custom made omelets, nice tea (çay).
Consistent dinners including a grill of the day: kebab, fish, chicken.
Good white wine though rather expensive from the point of view of a Moldovan.
Walking 10' distance to Marina and 15' Cumhuriyet street (shopping district).
Recently renovated, June 2011.
Good live music during evenings at beach side bar terrace.
To improve the things management should consider:
waive the policy of discouraging guests to bring in their own drinks.
have still water on included basis or reasonably price it. Currently it is TRY 2.-- per 33cl plastic bottle of Erikli.
expand the wooden deck by the sea side and make its usage free (included in room price).
improve the English of staff (provide training) as only do not rely on a few of their colleagues to complete requests of international guests. Otherwise the staff is very much client oriented.
expand collaboration with boating tour companies to enable guests having boat trips with boat pick-up from the wooden deck in front of the hotel.

“Had Potential”

One point I have to make - the location of this hotel is stunning and one of the best I've been to.
But, and it's a BIG but.
- the service people are quite rude and would make up false information to make you go away, because they were bad at speaking English.
- The place has no atmosphere; Go to the nearby resorts of AZKA and Salmakis for evening entertainment.. Otherwise you're going to get stared at by stony faced Russian/Slovakian guests as you walk around.
- No English people here.. All of Eastern European people. No community so it feels very alien and you don't feel welcome.
- Rooms are awful.. There was a blood stained toilet upon entering the room and the carpets were filthy. Beds are rock hard and the air-con leaks water all over the balcony.. Very dangerous.
- You'll find there's barely anyone here.. Very dull indeed.

However regular water taxis to Bodrum Harbour and nearby accessible resorts of Salmakis and AZKA make good places to run to.. Or just stay there would be a better option.

Don't stay here. And I'm not one to write bad reviews..

“Breath-Taking Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2011

The Good: The hotel has breath taking views looking over the ocean due to its location, awesome view when you get up on a morning. A 4* resort kept clean and tidy with new towels each day and bedding. Rooms are air-conditioned (no charge), contain a safe (no charge), fridge and have an on suite which was clean. The hotel is situated in-between Ghumbet and Bodrum both which are approx 10-15 mins walk into the centre. A boat can be used at the rear of the hotel which costs 5 lira pp and drops you into centre of Bodrum (taxi 15 lira approx) A quiet location so your away from all the loud music on a night. Ideal for a quiet relaxing holiday. The hotel is very popular with Europeans and had  only 1 other Brit couple whilst we were there.

The Bad: Breakfast consists of cereal, lots of breads, spreads and some fruit. Majority of the staff speak little English so communication is difficult. Just speak slowly to them you will be fine. Centre of both Bodrum and Ghumbet are a distance away we use to catch the boat to Bodrum and walk into Ghumbet (15mins approx) which is good exercise as it is very hilly and a taxi was expensive. NO BEACH sadly. For those of you that prefer a beach sadly this ain't the hotel for you.

Words of Wisdom: All inclusive at this hotel does NOT include drinks I was told by staff. We had B&B so no issue for us, as we purchased drinks from Market and popped these into the fridge. Staff had no issues with this. There is a charge to use the wifi (2 lira per hour) as the code is changed everyday. Just chat up the receptionist and they will give you the code.

Overall: A good hotel a lot better than some others out there. I would defiantly come back again.
