“Nice hotel, great value for money, excellent staff!”

I have booked one night stay in Azka Otel with alpha rooms as they offered the best deal. I was there in November, so totally out of holiday season. Hotel is located on a hill, approx. 15 min walking distance from Bodrum city centre.

I arrived quite late and didn't expect much, but... I was pleasantly surprised. First was helpful security guy, who explained where to go, where to park my car (offered to do that for me if I wish). Then guy at reception - very helpful, professional and natural. I like hassle-free check-in. I felt really welcomed there.

My room was on the same floor as reception, so didn't have to carry my bags too far. Room was clean and fresh, spacious enough and with new furniture. Room was well equipped with LCD TV, phone, mini-bar, safety deposit box and easy Air-Condition with remote controller. Free Wi-Fi access is provided and connection was really good and quick. There was no rubbish bin in the room and coffee/tea making facilities would be nice addition.

As it was quite late I decided to eat in the hotel's restaurant (which looks like from the 70'). They offered set menu only, which I was quite afraid of. I shouldn't have. Dinner was great and I really enjoyed that.

Bathroom was again spotless clean. Good quality toiletries and fresh towels provided.

In the morning I woke up before sunrise and I could enjoy that from my balcony. Worth paying a little bit extra for that. After that I got breakfast, which again was really tasty and good selection of local dishes and meals was offered (buffet breakfast).

I wouldn't say that this hotel is 5*, but definitely for the price I paid it was more than worth it. Great staff, different amenities (indoor and outdoor swimming pool, gym, restaurant, bar), good location and lovely surroundings - YES, I would go back there and I definitely recommend it. I was glad I stayed there that night. Thank you.

Room Tip: Definitely go for sea view rooms and if you have BB included - go for it - it's worth that a lit...

“Not so bad”

The hotel needs some renovation, but some rooms have been restored already. The shore is very nice and it is the only hotel in Bardakci cove with normal entrance to the sea. The hotel works at half-board system, you can have lunch at hotel's territory but it is a bit expensive. Cocktails are also not tasty. The hotel really has problem with air conditioning inside. Also we got stuck in a lift and were going to die without air. At the end we were saved but hotel stuff was laughing and didn't even appologize!
It is quite difficult to go out as it will take you about 300 meters climbing to the hill where the bus stop is, then 15 mins to Bodrum. Or water taxi at 5 YTL but till 00.00.
I can't tell that our time was bad, just a bit boring but we got all we needed-relaxing in the sea, pool, getting tanned under the sun gaining kilos )) That's all probably. We even didn't go to any disco, that was a real pity ) Once a week the hotel was making some kind of turkish night-unprofessional folclore dancers of 15-16 years from some nearby village, some breakdancers and a bellydancer who was just walking and laughing.
We were there at the end of june, the sea was cold, first 2 days we couldn't enter it, then it was getting better and warmer. So next time I'd prefer some hotel nearer to civilization, discos etc with easy way to reach.

“Good choice for relaxing”

Stayed here for two nights to relax after travelling overland from Istanbul, stopping at all the usual sites on the way. It was a good choice as the room was clean, comfortable and had a wonderful view of the Agean. Food was good, lot of choice and the wine as with all we drank in Turkey was excellent. We are talking of going back next yesr and would definatly stay here.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view of the ocean.

“Wonderful view of the blue Aegean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

My wife and I recently had a wonderful week at this hotel. It's location is excellent with extensive views out over the sea. Bodrum is easily accessible with a little boat that sails around the next headland into the Marina. Very romantic!
You can also walk but there's two or three mins of steep uphill before the 15 min stroll down to the Marina.
The food was fine - lots of different breads, fruit, cereal, cheeses etc fir breakfast - and every second day the chef would cook omlettes to order. Evening meals were fine - always plenty of choice. The staff were friendly (without being over friendly), the rooms were clean, the beds comfy and the public areas such as the bar terrace, lounge, pool and beach cafe were all of an excellent standard. Its a bit quiet on a night - there is no entertainment in the hotel itself - however we quite liked this as we were able to have chilling nights on the bar terrace and then spend others in Bodrum. A taxi back from Bodrum was about 11TL and the dolmus was 2.75TL each. The beach was a great place to chill - a good tip would be to take beach shoes for paddling as I found myself snorkelling with a pair of greater weevers 10 metres from the shore and they can give you a painful sting if you're unfortunate enough to accidently stand on one!
We were a bit worried by some of the previous reviews but I can honestly say that we found no problems at all at this excellent hotel and would return without hesitation!

“Excellent Clean Hotel with Good Service and Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

Just to reinforce the recent reviews. The quality of the hotel and food cannot be faulted but they do seem to aimed at more German than British customers who make up the majority.
The price to pay for the spectacular views is the steep hills but Bodrum and Gumbet are a short walk away.

The boat to Bodrum is cheap and runs regularly until 11pm. The season seems to slow down towards the end of September but there are still plenty of mature visitors. The room I had was excellent with good views across the whole of the bay.

Unfortunately the staff tend to be quite formal and do not have extensive knowledge of English but are on the whole helpful. In the evening after dinner most of the residents seem to disappear and there is little entertainment in the evening. Nearby hotels do have entertainment more often until about 1 am on some occasions.

Overall if you are looking for a quiet, quality experience in a fantastic location this hotel is for you.
