We booked the Midas because it was close to my daughter's apartment in Ankara. It appeared to be a solid mid-level business hotel, but turned out to be far less. Our room was a sauna, and the AC didn't work. Even after they "fixed" it, all it did was blow a little cool air for a while, and then just made noise. We roasted. The bathroom always smelled bad, even after they cleaned it. The street noise was very noisy. The hotel allows smoking on all floors except 4 and 6. Smoke wafts up the stair well and everything smells of cigarettes. The best part of the hotel was the breakfast buffet, which was very good. The staff was also friendly. However, neither of those good things made up for the lousy room quality.

Although this hotel is not outstanding; it provided good clean accomodations. The breakfast was mor than adequate.

At the intersection of the main North-south road and main east-west road, the hotel is about 10 TL away by cab ride from the train station. It takes 30 minutes to walk to the mausoleum and 60 minutes to walk to the Anadolu civilization museum.
The day receptionist (Sen) was EXCEPTIONALLY helpful - she spoke fluent English, had or found answers to all the questions and provided the best service with a constant smile. The night receptionist was surly and unhelpful (poor career choice). The in-house restaurant is beyond awful - undercooked chicken, wrong dishes served - stay away from it even if it is the only option on a late night when it is pouring outside (as was the case with us :( The breakfast was very good. The room was very clean and spacious. Not all the rooms are non-smoking, so it is important to ask for one.

Both the bedroom and bath were spacious and clean. The day receptionist couldn't have been more helpful answering questions, often multiple times with patience and friendliness. (Unfortunately the same could not be said of the night receptionist who was short and abrupt and acted like he was being severely inconvenienced by any enquires)
The included breakfast buffet was excellent with numerous choices.
Dinner at the hotel however was another matter. The chicken curry was served with the chicken only partially cooked and when it was reserved a second time it was still red, a third tiime it still had pink pieces of chicken, but we gave up at that point. The chicken schnitzel was like chicken tenders, but very dry. We kind of wondered that we were the only two diners, but after the meal was served we could see why. The waiter was sweet, and clearly embarassed.
