I had made 25 room reservation to this hotel 3 months ago before my c-in date and received my confirmation.But hotel had cancelled my reservation because of overbooking before 10 days. No apalogize, no alternatives '!!!!!

After spending 10 days in Turkey and I was still puzzled with their hotel ranking system. So does 5 star really mean the best or would that be 1 star?

This night, we arrived at yet another 5 starred hotel, Buyuk Anadolu. The exterior looked decent but definitely not 5 star material, maybe 3 star at most. The hotel was huge like a shopping mall or commercial building so they even had security guards there. There were some facilities in the ground floor, such as internet room (with pentium computers), table tennis room, snooker room and chess room. Not bad.

When we finally turned our attention to the hotel room, we were very disappointed. How could parts of the toilets still look unfinished? For instance, the sink still had rough edges which were not yet smoothened out and the bathtub was leaky. The balcony door also failed to lock properly which got us worried for the whole night. Good thing that, we were leaving the hotel at 5am the next morning so our sleep was brief anyways.

All in all, our friends summed it up like this, "It's like someone came to build a huge hotel with all the facilities and finishing but then NO ONE maintains it for 5-10 years. After a while, the place looks older than a 30 year old premise.". Well said.

Having said that, do you think we would recommend it to anyone? No chance....

this will be a very simple review.
Its supposed to be a 5star hotel but in reality in would just pass as a 2 star. It look awful and very very poor condition. If i would see this in Bagdad i wouldnt be suprised but this in Ankara is a very sad place. I was only there for a day use room so i have no idea about the food but would have never ever tried breakfast there.
When in Akara go to the Swissotel.

I believe it is now named Grand hotel Anadolu of Ankara when I stayed in this hotel on a two week long trek through Turkey with COSMOS Tours. It is a huge hotel in huge grounds including a water fun park. However, it has the worst services and condition we ever seen for all the hotels in Turkey. Basically, this is a big white elephant built on farm lands far away from any town but is supposed to be near the airport. It looks like a 5 star holiday hotel from far, just don't go near it!

The hotel is big and even has indoor swimming pools but all the guests who went to the pool were disappointed as it was stuffy and looked dirty. The lounge area is huge with run down furniture and facities so don't expect anything there. When I complaint to the staff that wireless internet does not work, they gave me a plain look as though it was never meant to work anyway. The room we had was huge but poorly furnished and
looks dirty as well as smelling musty. One of our group had a shock when the vanity basin dropped onto his feet when he was shaving! This hotel is a safety hazard so avoid it unless you have no choice. Tour guide told us it is used by senior officials, may be in original conditions but it is really run down now!
