“Surprisingly good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2011

I'm usually a tough critic but, I must say, this is a great business hotel. Great price compared to others in the area. It's a true 4 star hotel with good breakfast and a reasonable room-service menu. Most of the staff are helpful. Free wi-fi is provided and works about 70% of the time. Most of the staff speak a few words of English and are able to communicate with you if need be.

Apart from a couple of rude front-desk receptionists, I would give this hotel a 4 out of 5.

“Don't set foot in the door if you want a non-smoking room.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2010

I reserved and reconfirmed two non-smoking rooms, on a high floor, for two couples, for a one night stay. When we checked in very late, and the hotel knew we were checking in late, they offered me a room on the first floor, which I refused, and then two very smelly smoking rooms, one on the 11th floor and one on the seventh floor. The person at the front next was useless, and said the room on the first floor was the only one in the whole hotel that was available. It did smell less of smoke, and we took it. But all night the smell of smoke came wafting into the room. Not good for someone with allergies! The next morning our friends told us they their "non smoking" room had matches and an ashtray and also smelled of smoke. I went over to the front desk, again, and complained. Four people got very busy checking things, as I did have my confirmation and room request and their receipt of such in an email in my hand. Oops! They said. They made a mistake and didn't reserve a room for us. I complained about my lack of sleep and smell of smoke in the room, and asked if they could do something for me. First they offered a drink, and then a lunch. I explained we were leaving momentarily, and we just had breakfast. (Breakfast was really good.)
Very unhappy with response to such a negative experience.

“A party is more important than the customers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2010

This is a former Marriott - now an average hotel. Parking is sparse, food is expensive. Room was average - bed was less than acceptable. Then the last night, they hosted a party out on the patio and it was allowed to go on & on & on . .. . . until midnight the group was out beating drums and dancing. So if you were on that side of the building, there was NO hope in getting any sleep. The hotel claims to offer free wireless - but it rarely worked! Now I know why they are no longer a Marriott hotel!

“Very comfortable and friendly hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2008

Stayed at Park Hotel for 8 nights end of June. This was formerly part of the Marriot chain and I was informed that it is likely to be re-adopted by Marriott.
On arrival allocated room but had problems with safe and A/C not working - immediately assisted to move to a larger room without any problem where everything worked well. Rooms clean and well serviced of reasonable size with good desk space, sofa & side tables. Bathroom good size with usual supply of toiletries & powerful shower.
Hotel has very pleasant well serviced open air pool deck on 2nd floor with plenty of sunloungers, umbrellas etc and in basement is a well equipped health centre, gym with sauna & steam room and well serviced relaxation area., free use to hotel guests. Massages also available for additional fee.
Complimentary Breakfast is fairly extensive hot & cold buffet replenished frequently which can be taken either in 2nd floor restaurant or in adjoining outside pool deck. Good service with tea & coffee and clearing of used dishes.
Other food in the restauarants relatively expensive but couple of good supermarkets, restaurants and cafes all within 2-5minutes walk.
I found all the staff particularly friendly, helpful and accommodating. The wi-fi available in all rooms and throughout hotel worked well although it has no log-on/log-off facility so once you buy your time it runs continuously until time is up. Not ideal if you just want to check your email 3-4 times a day for 10-20mins a time. However I mentioned this to manager and she very helpfully offered me special internet rates.

Have already booked again for my next vist to Ankara

Would definitely recommend

  • Liked — Friendly, accommoadting staff, clean well serviced rooms & attractive pool & deck area
  • Disliked — Price of food for room service and in-house restaurant
