“Lotus Garden Revisited”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I was in The Philippines from Jan, 27, 2012 through Feb. 12, 2012 and stayed at Lotus Garden while in Manila. Once again, the staff here exceeded my expectations on customer service. The doorman, Larry, was always helping us out, watching out for us and giving us advice. He is a great asset to the hotel. The bellhop, Jeff, was also just as helpful and would bend over backwards to help us out in any way he could. The rooms are a good value for the money and overall, it's a very good place to stay. I will always stay here when I visit Manila. It has become my home away from home.

“Not sure why this hotel rates so well....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Whilst the facility is reasonable enough, as far as it goes, there are a number of negatives that simply should not be allowed to occur. The hotel is NOT "great value for money" by any means and in my opinion many of those nearby offer more bang for your money.
1) There is no safe in the room. Using the safety boxes at reception is a bit of a challenge, given that the boxes themselves are quite small and also that anyone at reception, including milling guests etc, can easily see what you are doing. In-room safety boxes are dirt cheap to purchase nowadays, so I am at a loss as to why the hotel does not arrange this minor upgrade to its services.
2) You need to present yourself at reception morning, even though the room had been prepaid, to get your breakfast voucher.... a minor inconvenience, but a nuisance nevertheless.
3) Breakfast was quite "ordinary" to say the least. Not enough variety and the quality (and age) of some of the dishes, especially the Filipino ones, was questionable.
4) My room was not made up until I reminded them of this at 2PM in the afternoon.
5) My key card was deactivated on day 2 (yet another minor inconvenience, but a nuisance nevertheless) for some inexplicable reason. This entailed yet another trip to the front desk to grumble and there was not a hint of apology or even explanation.

“Great Value for Money”

Let me take this opportunity to share the experience I had with Lotus Garden Hotel. As frequent traveler for business and leisure, I can say that this hotel will give anyone great value for money. The location was strategically put up for an easy access to malls and landmarks in Manila. Foods are palatable and served generously. I can say that one of the best salads I ever tasted in Manila. People are courteous and with sense of initiative. And the best part is THE PRICE! It is very reasonable for a service and experience that one could get. I will recommend this hotel for those that on a budget but wants to have “stress-free experience”. Let me also have this opportunity to commend the courtesy of Ms. Lady Elegado, the residential manager of this hotel for giving us and my family best of service. Thanks so much! God bless!

We have sayed at the Lotus many times over many years however this year will be our last. On most occasions we have stayed the reception staff cannot find our bookings and have no records. They will also take calls and talk between themselves when you are there. On our last trip our family took my parents who are aged only to find after 2 hours of trying to get our rooms the rooms were wrong. (one would think any person in this industry would know you cannot fit 4 people in a tiny room with one bed - but at the Lotus they do). I asked for the manager and got the duty manager at the time and whilst he listened I fully know there would have been no action taken as this is not the first time. If you have the patience, fortitude and strength to get through the book in process you will enjoy your stay. The rooms are good and the breakfast is extremely good. A special mention to Vic who has been there for many years and offers wonderful food service. It is based in Ermita which is in an older part of Manila. (I have rated the service as terrible based on reception and book in quality. All other service is very good).

Room Tip: The hotel is in 2 parts and separated. I would recommend to stay in the old section as this has the...
