“Le Relax ... great affordable place”

If you expect glam don't go to Seychelles. It is Africa, it means sweat, heat, insects, simplicity etc. If you want to enjoy the beautiful beaches , the ocean, tasty sea food and sweet fruit , that is the place for you. Seychelles are amazing. You go there to enjoy half naked in each moment and thats it. You will miss it after you go back home.If you go to Le Relax, you will have a chance to enjoy all of it. Le Relax is a chain of hotels on Mahe and Praslin, but they are also building a new one on La digue. You can get a great island hopping deal as I did and I was very happy about it. Rooms are clean, the food is great, people are polite. The best thing is to get a map and visit every single beach on the islands. That is why you go there. Every beach is special :) Le Relax has the cheapest rent a car in the world, we took rent a car on both islands and u need it if you want to visit every peace of the islands. If you go to Seychelles to swim in the pool and sit in the resort, you will miss a lot.I spent the days outside, walking, swimming, visiting beautiful little beaches and restaurants, and when it gets dark (very early) you go to a hotel and you enjoy and relax. I tried the tastiest dishes like octopus curry and mango salad, their breakfasts are sooooo fresh and sweet, oh gosh i miss Seychelles. I tried the fresh baked bread and pastries in the bakery in a small village, I enjoyed the fresh mango juice every morning... Seychelles takes your breath away.On Mahe the hotel is on the little hill but the beach is 20 m downstairs and the view is amazing, the hotel on Praslin is directly on the beach. Relax in Relax. :)))

“Excellent small hotel at affordable price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

We spent 5 nights here and wish we could have spent longer. It is an excellent small hotel in an up-market residential neighbourhood in an elevated location 3 minutes walk down to the well shaded Fairyland beach, which was superb for safe snorkelling and swimming. The hotel has a spotlessly clean swimming pool with loungers and sun umbrellas and the restaurant area alongside. From there, steps lead to the little road down to the beach.

The rooms have very recently been redecorated and upgraded and have new mattresses and pillows. There is A/C, a fan, fridge, and tea and coffee making facilities. Ours was on the first floor and had a lovely sea view. It gave onto a central sitting area with small library, board games and large scale maps - and a full-width balcony perfect for sundowners looking across the bay. The staff were cheerful, friendly and endlessly helpful. For example, the new mattress was a little too firm for my taste, so they put a folded blanket under the bottom sheet on my side.

The hotel has a well-deserved reputation for its Indian cuisine, but we also enjoyed the Creole menus and fresh caught grilled fish. Breakfasts were substantial, and we enjoyed fresh local fruits and an English-style cooked breakfast, though all tastes were catered for.

We chose not to hire a car, but enjoyed using the local buses which are frequent and charge SR 5 for a journey of any length. You could travel right round the island for that! The bus stop is right below the hotel. There is a local mini supermarket about 7 minutes walk towards the village, followed by other shops and small eateries, a modern hospital and clinic and an Anglican church.

For those not looking for the large resort type of hotel, this small, quiet, friendly establishment was just what we wanted.

“Worst hotel on the island”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 May 2011

We stayed on Praslin for the first 4 days in an excelent hotel, with no problems. For second 4 days we moved to Mahe and found ourselves in a hotel which we rapidly realised was the worst on the island. Bad hillside location in a run down area. No shade, adjacent building site. First room, the beds ( two singles, not a double) had not been made and air con did not work--refused it. Second room, air con did not work, bed worst in history, view of razor wire and building site--refused it. Third room only just acceptable. No complimentary tea or coffee in any rooms. Restaurant food and service very poor. Our first visit to Mahe, if we go again it would be to one of other very good hotels in superb locations. Luckily we had a hire car, without which the holiday would have been ruined. Holiday booking agents do not seem interested !

“stay away from this hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2011

We stayed there for one night only waiting for our flight. First we were shown a groundfloor room which had an awful smell. We accepted the first floor room instead, which was a bit better, but you could not get rid of the feeling that it was very dirty and that you might see some unpleasant bugs inside. For one night we did not want to make any problems, so we stayed there, but this was actualy one of the worst accommodations we have ever tried. At the end there were not any bugs, only geckos, indian food in the restaurant was freshly made (live cooking) and extremely tasteful. But rooms were definitely dirty, old, tired. Location is on the hill and you have to walk about 15 minutes to the first shop, so even the location is not an advantage.

Better to choose another hotel when waiting for the flight, accommodation is realy out of any comment.

Staff was kind, Indian food was very tasteful, but we decided to eat there only because of live cooking. We would never dare to eat there if they would prepare the food in some kitchen, where you could not see what they were doing and how possibly dirty it could be.

“Do not go there”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 March 2011

Stayed at this hotel for one night, since my EMIRATES flight to go back was early in the morning and we needed an accommodation close to the airport.
I booked and payed 2 super deluxe room (we are 4 and they do not have room for 4 people) and I got one super deluxe and one normal. The super de luxe had see view, but nothing else was luxurious. The second room was smaller, and with a very disgusting smeel. I decided to sleep alone in this room and leave my wife and kids in the orther one. I do not even know how to describe the room, but I was never in a crap hotel like this in my life and please consider that I am travelling for business almost every week. You can accept compromises like in my situation, after all we needed only a bed. But this was a tremendous surprise. The pictures in the web site are not reflecting the reality and they are cheating. Food was bad, breakfast even worse. I would prefer to spend more money but to find something more comfortable especially at the end of a wonderful holiday. Stay away from this place. It is very sad.
