We got there by taxi in August 2011 from the airport immediately after our arrival in Seychelles. So Le Pti Payot was our first contact with the local people. We have been welcome by a man smelling of alcohol and evidently drunk, who said to be the owner of the place. He talked to us endlessly about all, evidently trying to loose time as he wasn't able to give us the room we've been waiting for. Consider that we were traveling with three child of 1, 4 and 9 and we were very tired. Eventually "You need to wait the chief", he admitted.
1 hour and a half later a woman appeared, immediately telling us that there was a problem with the lodging so we would have to sleep in an apartment only one night and then change it for the other two nights. We complained uselessly and so then got in the house, relaxed a while and then went to the seaside (beautiful) for a swim. When we went back we discovered that sheets and towels smelled bad as they hadn't been changed from the previous night, but the owner meanwhile had been disappeared.
During the night we got awaked by strong noises and we, the parents, got up and discovered that someone was trying to enter the house forcing the doorway, we immediately shouted out to get them away and immediately after looked for the owner for help, unsuccessfully again. We were alone in the structure in the hands of the thieves!
The day after we got nothing more than a "I'm sorry" from the lady. In lodge number two we got clean sheets even if the little bad of the baby was unprepared inside the closet and the place was quite dirty. In addition only drops of water was coming out from the shower and the drains were clogged. The lady told us that the local municipality had forced a stop in providing water due to the period of drought. We discovered later that this was true in all the islands of Seychelles but normally every lodge is provided by water pump to ensure their guests an extra amount of water. Le Pti Payot, instead, is not provided by such equipment. Overall, especially outside, the place is beautiful with a luxurious garden, as if it were a jungle, unfortunately the place is full of dangers especially for little child, steps everywhere and unprotected balconies (the space between columns is too wide for babies and they risk to get through). Shops and living center are about 1 kilometer away and the way to get there has no walkways and is unenlightened.
The following days nothing had changed: the owner always drunk, the lady always missing whenever desired (She probably lives away from Le Pti Payot), a trickle of water in the shower, the night passed all in one bed with wife and child frightened and in the company of a general sense of unsafeness.
Fortunately the other accommodation in Seychelles have been completely different: warm welcome, nice people, clean environments, sense of safeness.
In conclusion we can say that Le Pti Payot in general is a nice place but the management is a nightmare and the place is completely unsafe (it is also a quite isolated place) especially for families with babies. Lodges are also quite dirty and neglected even if structurally pleasant. Probably in the past the place had lived a period of beauty, sure thanks to a different management.
Believe us, STAY AWAY, FAR AWAY FROM LE PTI PAYOT!
