The plan to travel to Kuala Lumpur was a very last minute one and after checking different hotels we decided to stay at Hotel Maluri. The location is quite good though not exactly in KL city centre. Taxi drivers charge between MYR 15-25 to go to city centre or else the LRT is a much cheaper option.
The hotel looks nice and quite clean, we stayed in a deluxe room, so the size and amenities were satisfactory considering the price we paid. The service is in general average, especially one lady who checked us in the evening, very cold, unwelcoming and unattentive. We didnt know the deluxe rooms dont have any smoking room option, so that was an issue and no solution was offered, she just completely ignored it. After having flewn for 9 hours, this gesture is really not appreciated.
We had drinks at the hotel bar at nights, cocktails were disaster, no taste or if not it's a totaly different drinks that we ordered - just buy beer, it's safer. There were many kids under-age (12 & below) hanging around in their pyjamas playing snooker and they were making lots of noises as well. It's clearly mentioned at the bar door that visitors below 21 y.o. are not allowed there. After raising this point to the waiter (who was also the bartender of the night), no action was taken...
Despite off all these, Huda, a receptionist lady, went out of her way to assist us with our trip arrangements as we didnt know what to do and where to visit in KL. This was really really nice. The concierge guys were really helpful as well.
For future travel, I might consider this hotel again if they have good bargain on the price as know what to expect from staying there.
