We had a great stay at the Renaissance. We had a room on the Lifestyle level and later a suite rather than the standard rooms.
TIP: The hotel has two towers that share a pool and some facilities. I think the West Wing was traditionally the 5 star hotel, and the East Wing the 4 star business one - although that came from a cab driver so not sure. Either way, it's the East Wing that has the views of the Petronas towers, and the Lifestyle level rooms had certainly been renovated recently, so I think the whole tower is being shifted upmarket. Very nice indeed (but we needed a suite for the family, so upgraded).
PROS:
- Resort style pool with swim up bar. This was the reason for us choosing this hotel, to add a little vacation element to visiting the city.
- Impeccable service (really great, the main reason I wanted to take the time to write the review) - nothing was trouble for them to sort or fix, if we needed a plug adapter it just came straight to the room.
- Good location, short walk to Petronas Towers, and near a metro (although we used cabs).
- We had a great view as well, but of course not all rooms have that view.
CONS: (These are only niggles really for a bit of balance - nit-picking)
- The pool was a bit chillier than we expected given that it was so sunny and hot (seems to be shaded by the towers). That took a bit of the fun out of it.
- Breakfast looked like a good spread, but the food was a little sub-par I'd say. Possibly the food in the area is all like that, I don't know, but I didn't especially enjoy eating it put it that way.
As I said, just niggles. I thought the service at this hotel was excellent, and we'd certainly return. As mentioned, the review is for a suite and for the Lifestyle level though, I can't comment on the other rooms.
