To be fair, I'll mention up front that my husband and I were visiting family in the area and left the hotel at 9:00am every morning and returned each evening at 9:00pm. That said, below is my review of this hotel during our recent stay.
Just got back from a 5 day trip to Albemarle, NC. We stayed at this hotel because the hotel we usually stay at when we visit the area was full. I chose this particular hotel because of a good experience with a Hampton Inn in Niagara Falls Ontario that I stayed in recently. I was not disappointed.
The hotel was conveniently located on US 52 and close to everywhere we planned on going. The staff was very friendly. We had no problems checking in and it was very quick since they had all the information in the computer from my on-line reservation. The room was very neat and clean with no odors. The bed was very comfortable. Walking to my room, I could hear the television playing in some of the rooms as I passed, but when I closed my door, I didn't hear a thing from the hallway. There were people staying next door to us, but I never heard any noises coming through the walls. I could slightly hear the toilet flush from the room over ours, but it wasn't annoying. Because we had a busy schedule, we only went to the free breakfast on the last day of our stay, but there were a lot of choices available - pastries, yogurt, microwavable egg omlets, cereal, bagels, english muffins, orange and apple juice, coffee, milk, etc. I had the yogurt which was cold and fresh and hubby had the egg omlet which he described as 'decent'. There was also a free complimentary newspaper available for the taking.
The hotel was replacing tiles in the front walkway leading to the front door, but it was well sectioned off and we had no problem entering the hotel with our luggage.
I brought my laptop and had no problem accessing their free wireless internet connection.
We had a very comfortable odorless couch in the room along with a clean refrigator and microwave. We didn't use the microwave, but the refrigator worked very well.
The bathroom was clean, but could use updating. The caulking around the tub was poorly done. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom which would have been nice. The bathroom sink was located inside the bathroom, not outside (my preference is outside the bathroom) but it was workable.
The room had a hair dryer (that worked very well), an iron board and iron, a walk-in closet, portable luggage rack, full length mirror, and ample lighting.
All in all, I will have a tough time deciding which hotel to stay in on our next trip - our 'usual' hotel or this Hampton Inn...but I'm strongly leaning toward the Hampton Inn.
