“I'll never stay here again-bed bugs”

I chose this location strictly on the motivation to earn more HHonors Points and boy did I regret it.

The room and hotel in general were obviously not well kept up. It appeared as if an attempt had been made to update, but the smell and overall feeling of the facility never caught up. The front desk staff was friendly when you could find them. None of them wore what I would have consider some type of uniform so you were never sure who worked there. And once they finished visiting with their family members that came by they eventually helped the customers.

I was not impressed with the breakfast buffet so I opted for the quick grab and go breakfast bags at the counter....too bad there weren't any!

The workout room albeit small had a nice flat screen tv, but that's about all I can say nice about it. The equipment squeaked and I shortened my workout for fear I would break the equipment further.

The kicker - Bed Bugs!! I had no indication whatsoever that this would/could be a problem. I stayed there three nights and it wasn't until after the third night that I noticed remnants of blood and bugs on the sheets. I immediately called the hotel manager up to my room to show her the evidence and checked out. They appropriately comped my last night's stay and I left feeling like I had been violated. The bites showed up several days later and I was covered with whelps for days. I didn't leave with a sense that this issue would be dealt with accordingly, but I didn't care since I will NEVER stay in this hotel again and I will NEVER recommend it to anyone.

“expected better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2011

pros: Hampton Inn property if you need HHonors points and prefer to stay in the family. Better than being homeless. Fitness room and equipment appeared new but I didn't get a chance to try it. Cons: Fair amount street noise, building isn't set very far back from main road. If you're a light sleeper, this may bother you. Internet is SLOW and spotty. It may have been renovated recently but doesn't appear to have been a very thorough one. Could see obvious disrepair in main lobby buffet counter just while waiting to check in. Mattress is thin and stiff, reminds me of old dorm mattresses. Bathroom not 100% renovated, very old jacuzzi tub model...not that it was decrepit but appearance was discouraging. And my BIGGEST pet peeve about place: while front desk lady was quite friendly and accomodating, she seems to love to walk around the lobby and public main spaces without any shoes on, just socks. Hey I'm all for local flavor, etc. but I do expect some minimum professionalism like, oh, wearing shoes. Just a turn off, felt like I was crashing her living room.

“No Good Customer Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 March 2010

My husband and I along with our 2 year old daughter checked into this Hampton Inn on 3/12/10 and left on 3/14/10. In our room, the toilet had urine in it an there was a used wash cloth in the sink. We called the front desk and we were moved to another room. The next evening, we came back to our room expecting clean towels, a made up bed, and a emptied trash cans. We did not have clean towels in our room; the bed was not made up, and the trash was not emptied. I called the front desk and asked why was my room not cleaned and the reply I received was" Your room was not on the list." No apology at all. Fresh towels were brought to our room after I called the front desk. Due to the lack of customer service, I would not stay here again or recommend this hotel to others.

“Nice, but freezing.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2009

We stayed there for three nights at a rather high price – we were charged the same room-rate as at the Hampton Inn at Cocoa Beach, Florida! The hotel was nice though, the rooms clean and large, but without any sound-proof windows – you could clearly hear every truck passing by during the night. The free breakfast was a good start, but we all catched a cold (during summer!) because the AC was freezing, and we didn't like the TV in high volume.

Despite of it, this hotel is probably the best place to stay in this part of NC, so if you're around this area - go for it!

“Warm and friendly...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 March 2008

Excellent service and comfort. Despite being middle aged vs some of its younger siblings, the staff at the Hampton Inn in Albemarle, NC, as well as the community we friendly. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The rates and room service were great. As for food, both the "Log Cabin" and "Whispering Pines" BBQ are just north and south of the Inn and both provide great food for a reasonable price. If you prefer steak, the "Sagebrush" is a few miles away, and serves a delicious prime-rib.
