I went to Tokyo for a few days and my previous Osaka hotel was full when I came back. A Japanese friend recommended the Monterey. I don't. It's a very old hotel and too expensive for what you get. Of the three hotels I stayed in, this one is a distant third. I would say that it was convenient to the Osaka train station; maybe a two- to three-block walk, but there are other hotels in the vicinity, including one in the station itself, that are better values.

Too expensive for value. Room is small and it was difficult to find the place from Osaka station. Longer walk from Osaka station than expected. It has Breakfast buffe from 7am. I would choose other hotels for this price next time.

Stayed 4 nights in this hotel while i was in osaka. I make it as my central destination to travel to Nara and Kyoto - about 30 to 45 minutes. Hotel located near lots of shopping malls, foods, Umeda Sky Building and if it is raining, you can take the underpass.
Hotel as many had said is kinda old. Nevertheless, it is still quite comfortable. The bed is nice to sleep in. The hotel shampoo, conditioner and soap are of good quality. No view outside the window. The aircond was just moderate when i stayed there, wasn;t cold enough even though the hotel staff came into to adjust.

Our flight was delayed and we called this hotel. Staff understood the situation and there was no problem. They speak English quite well too. Location is about 7 mins walk from JR Osaka. Room was clean but a bit small, but that's normal in Japan
