“Mixed feeling about this hotel - You get what you paid for.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

I have stayed at this hotel few years ago and returned to this property again found not much have been change since my visits back in 2007.

1. The Hotel literally splited into two parts - the Renovated (upper) floor and Unrenovated (lower) floor, and it has been the same since. So if you are booking via cheapest third party website, you are most likely to be stuck in the lower floor room.

2. Within the 2 parts, the side facing the street have bigger rooms, and they are "mostly" twin rooms, which costs more. If you want more space or traveling with more than 1 person, then twin room is more ideal. The bed is definitely more toward the firm side but I am used to the Asian standard bedding so this is not an issue. The bathroom is big for Asian hotels with all the toiletries that you can think of.

3. My biggest gripe for this hotel is the AC control. During my last stay, I found the room to be way too hot. Unfortunately, the hotel did NOT upgrade its ventilation system. The room still have only one option - Either Heat or Cold and they shut down the AC completely during month of December. It was just way too uncomfortable to sleep in. I had to open the tiny window to let the air in every night though out my stay. I think it will be nice if they can at least install a thermostat in EACH room (yes some room have it while some don't and staffs don't seem to be aware about it), at least have a working fan function in the room will be appreciated

4. Staff's English proficiency level is still lacking at this hotel. Most of the front desk staff still have language problem. If you asked something beyond simple check in/ check out question. They will be confused. There's a French bell boy working at times to assist guests speak English but that is about it.

5. The location of hotel is good if you know how to utilize the bus/city subway system. Very good if you want to use Osaka as a point to travel to Nara, Kobe. However, for JR Pass traveler, it is a bit of hike to the closest JR Tsuruhashi station (~10-15mins uphill hike). Airport bus from both Itami and Kansai Airport are available at the side of hotel. Just ask the staff to direct you.

6. Lots local eateries available nearby the hotel. There are some cheap (~600 JPY) bento place (Yayoken) located behind hotel and 24 hour bento place that are good for family/budget travelers.

7. Breakfast buffet have everything from western to Japanese food. However, the taste is just alright.

If you are looking for a comfortable hotel without breaking your bank, this is definitely it. But if you are looking for a luxury, pampering stay, this is definitely not what you want to be stuck in it.

Room Tip: Renovated room, facing the street to get more room.

“Very good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012 via mobile

The hotel located above Kintetsu Uehonmachi station and can be convenient for side trip to Nara. It is only 2 station away from Namba. The subway is also very nearby.

We stayed at the premium twin room the difference between premium and standard room is the latter rooms are not renovated, and the condition may be quite run down The room is spacious as per Japanese standard though I felt that the lighting is quite dim.

The service is good. For the rate that I have purchased from Expedia, it is really value for money.

“Great Hotel, Great Location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

My husband, 2 kids and myself checked into this hotel on 20 Dec 2011 for 10 nights. We had booked connecting deluxe (renovated) rooms as the hotel only allow a maximum of 3 pax in a room. With regards to the rooms, there is nothing much to complain about, except for the pillows. We found the pillows a little uncomfortable, otherwise we have no complaints. The bathrooms are clean and of a reasonable size and has all the essential toiletries and even comb and hairbrush. There is complimentary internet access in the room as well. However, a major grouse I have is that there are no English TV programmes in the room. There is an English movie channel but we have to pay for it it we wish to access that channel. So do bring a book or some puzzles along instead.

The front desk staff of the hotel were also helpful and spoke English. Whenever we approach them for directions or information about a place we wish to visit, they always try their best to provide as much information to us as possible. The housekeeping staff were also very courteous and always clean up our rooms very nicely.

Another thing we like about this hotel is it's proximity to the Kintetsu-Uehonmachi train station as well as the Kintetsu dept store and food hall. The hotel is literally just right next door to them. There is also a small shopping mall called Yufura, which is next to Kintetsu dept store, and it has a large Uniqlo outlet as well as a Lush outlet. There are also numerous other food outlets nearby.

If you are planning to take the Airport Limousine Bus from Kansai Airport, the bus will stop in front of the hotel as there is a designated stop there. From the airport, you would have to take the bus from Bus stop No. 7.

Overall, we would consider staying here again the next time we visit Osaka.

Room Tip: Make sure to book the rooms that are renovated.

“Convinient Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

This hotel is located on top of the Osakauehonmachi train station, and only a 5 minutes walk from the subway station (both train and subway station are linked together underground). What's more, if you take the airport shuttle (route # 7) from Kansai, this is the first stop and it only takes 50 mins. to arrive, so the location of this hotel is really great. I took a taxi back from Dotonbori, the bill is just about 1000 yen.

The hotel is not quite up to a Sheraton standard, as a matter of fact, it is more like an express hotel, design and everything in the room is really basic. Breakfast buffet is quite OK. If you check in at this hotel with Sheraton in mind, you will be quite disappointed, but if you are expecting to stay in an express hotel, this hotel is a great choice. As the other hotels, there is no Wifi in the room, so everybody is sitting in the lobby with their iPad.

“Just OK”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

I gave this hotel 4 stars because it offered good service, the staff spoke English and were quite nice and helpful, the room was clean with an acceptable size for Japan (not large though), there was a press in the room, the minbar was OK and reasonably priced, the location was good, close to the convention center (Osaka International House) and a 20-min walk to Dotonbori (two subway stops), there were English TV channels in the room, and the breakfast was rich and fresh. I did not give the last start, because there was no wireless internet (LAN was free, but it is 2011!), and basically the hotel is not meant to be a five-star.

Room Tip: High-floor room is quite
