“Great Hotel, 5 star stay for the price of 3!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Stayed here for four nights including breakfast for less than 300 dollars. The shuttle service is great, but if you plan on seeing the town, I strongly suggest walking.
Breakfast was great, served until 10:30, perfect for those late starters.

Overall, a great stay, will be returning again in the next week,

“Functional hotel close to Kansai airport but no wireless internet in room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

It is a hotel close to Kansai airport easily accessible by taxi or train (direct train is about 30 minutes). It is not in the center of Osaka rather it is in Sakai City but you can take the train to center of Osaka such as the shopping center Namba from the train station that is essentially connected to the hotel.
The rooms are functional and not too large or small but no wireless internet in the room so a Macbook Air notebook (cannot use wire internet) can only connect to wireless internet in the lobby. They provide a plastic slippers so you don't have to worry walking on the carpet barefoot. The TV channels are limited. No CNN, no BBC, no CNBC, so hard to connect back to the US and know what is happening back home especially the time difference and no internet in the room (I brought a MacBook Air).
There is a small to medium size shopping center closeby so it is good for business meeting and if you have time you can go do some souvenir shopping. KFC, french coffee shops, and a few Japanese restaurant so you will not go hungry. The restaurant in the hotel lobby (where breakfast is included in the rate) does not have a lot of choices of western/American entries. Enough to fill you in the morning but the choice of food is no way close to not a luxury breakfast from a 5 start hotel
I noticed Thai airline uses the hotel for its flight crew. It is cheaper that hotels in downtoen Osaka but if you are going to Osaka for sight seeing I recommend hotel closer to Osaka which costs more but will get you a much more central location.
I have been in this hotel three times in the past 2 years, the service is standard in a sense nothing to complain about. Three times I was there for business and my contact in Sakai picked me up from the airport. I would describe it as a functional hotel for business, a touch of luxury but not really luxury and would not recommend for someone who travel to Osaka from US to use it unless they have a contact or budget conscious. It is not a luxury hotel in the sense of the hotel or the restaurant service. If Thai airline uses it for its crew, it is neither too bad nor too fancy.

Room Tip: Remember no wireless internet in the room only in the lobby though the wireless internet is quite fa...

“Clean and great service but rooms are tired and need updating...”

Few days in Kyoto and this hotel was offered as part of a package. You can tell this hotel used to be a really grand place however the lobby really didnt reflect the room. Our room was clean with a great view of the city but marks on the wall, cracks in the bathroom and it felt generally like it had had its day - comfortable all the same. The hotel staff were awesome and gave a typically Japanease friendly welcome.

No wifi and no free wired internet (1000Y for 24hrs) made the stay more costly than we had hoped. Good location though just a short walk from the main station.

“Excellent choice while attending a conference at the International Convention Center”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

I stayed at the Royal Rihga hotel while attending a conference next door at the Osaka International Convention Center. For this purpose, the hotel was very convenient. However, if you are looking for a hotel in the center of the nightlife or restaurants, then the Royal Rhiga may not be the best choice since the immediate area around the hotel is devoid of bars or restaurants. However, there are bars and restaurants located in the mall under the hotel. Alternatively, the hotel does offer a convenient shuttle to the train station which is surrounded by a large number of restaurants and bars. The shuttle departs every 6 minutes during the day and every 15 minutes after 9PM. The shuttle is very popular and it was often necessary to wait your turn to get onto a shuttle.

The service at the Royal Rihga was amazing. Everyone I spoke with spoke excellent English and was professional and helpful.

I reserved one of the rooms on the Natural Comfort floors. This turned out to be a very good choice and definitely worth the extra cost for a number of reasons.
- The rooms are larger than the standard rooms
- There is extra security on the Natural Comfort floors because guests must use their key cards to access the floors. The floors with the standard rooms do not require key cards to access them and so the general public has access.
- I was offered discount coupons for the restaurants in the hotel
- Free access to the hotel pool
- But the best extra is the access to the lounge room on the 19th floor. The free benefits of the lounge access include a western and Japanese breakfast in the morning, tea, coffee and snacks in the afternoon and alcohol and snacks in the evening. The breakfast was very good and there were enough choices to keep us satisfied. The drinks and snacks were definitely appreciated. The lounge was a great way to relax during the day or to unwind with colleagues over a beer after the conference. The lounge itself was large with a lot of tables by the windows and tasteful decor. There were different rooms so that you could find a quiet table or you could be with larger groups at the larger tables in the other rooms.
The Natural Comfort room was large and tastefully decorated. We had good views from the windows. There was lots of shelving, a desk, drawers, a kettle and a refrigerator. The bathroom was large. The bathroom mirror was heated so that it quickly defogged. The room was clean, but did show signs of moisture in the bathroom where the shower area was darkened by mildew growth.

The internet was Y1050 per day and was wired. An Ethernet cable is provided in the room.

Despite all of the good things about the hotel, there were some problems. The key cards had the hotel room printed on them. Anyone who found a lost key could easily figure out the door which it opened which is a security issue. The other problem was a lack of ventilation in the bathroom. The bathroom was hot and humid after a shower and there was evidence of mildew on the bathroom ceiling.

Overall, an excellent stay in Osaka if you are attending a conference. If you are a tourist in the city, the hotel is still a good choice, but not the most central location. Definitely get a room in the Natural Comfort Tower. I found that the rates offered on Expedia were far better than those offered on the hotel website.

Luxury hotel but the rooms do not match!
I was impressed with the lobby, restaurants, staff, the service and all the facilites of this place but the room I got was a deception, except for the bed that was very confortable the room and bathroon looks like it hasn't been renovated since the 70's, maybe it was the tower i was staying at (west tower) because i couldn't believe the diference was so big!
