Got this hotel for 4 days mid-1/2012. Paid USD 60/night for economy double for 2 people. 25th floor facing Daimaru Dept store. Beautiful views.
Location: Hotel is across the street from Daimaru dept store, LV, Dior, Chanel, Gucci, Omega, and plenty of other high-end boutiques so rest assured location is in the best area of Shinsaibashi. 1 block from Shinsaibashi arcade, 5-min walk to Namba, plenty to eat, plenty to shop. Downstairs is direct access to Shinsaibashi subway terminal, a major convenience when arriving and departing.
Service: Excellent - requested air purifier, buckweat and memory foam pillows, humidifier, outlet converter. All came within minutes. Everyone is polite, as expected.
Room: Typical Japanese room, double bed, 35" Sony Bravia flatscreen, desk, hot tea. One chair and coffee table.
Bathroom: Typical Japanese bathroom, toilet w/ bidet, 1 sink, 1 shower/bath. Amenities include razor, toothbrush, comb, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, body wash sponge.
Now understand, this is Japan. Large rooms are atypical. If you are used the US hotels (the land of excess), then you will be severely disappointed. But for the price and location, I was more than happy. But then again, I'm the type of traveler that does not stay in the room much except for R&R. I spent most of my time walking around Shinsaibashi and Namba. Just as a point of reference for my taste in hotels, I've stayed at these hotels in the past: Tokyo: Keio Plaza Hotel, Grand Arc Hamzamon, Hearton Osaka; Seoul: Doulos, Novotel Gangnam; Beijing: Hotel Kapok; SF: Chancellor, Vitale, Grand Hyatt, Hilton, JW Marriot, Parc55, Westin Market St.; Seattle: Four Seasons; LV: Bellagio, Venetian, PH, MGM, Mandalay.
