“Just an overnight”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We stayed at the Grand Deluxe for a night. The bed was massive and sooo soft. We had a view of the east side which was alright, but I think the better view is on the west. There are a ton of restaurants around the area (I like the Minami Semba area), but when it gets late, it becomes really quiet. For some action Honmachi is right between Shinsaibashi and Umeda so there are some choices, but limited due to the recent crackdown on nightclubs in Osaka, but that is another story.
Next day breakfast was good. I liked it better than the Hilton's. The Hilton's had a bigger variety, but not as good quality.
Overall, everything is still new and plush, so if you are looking to spend some cash, you found the right place. But if you are just in need of a night out, then I think there are some other cheaper options.

Room Tip: East side has a better view than the west.

“Classy Hotel”

This is a very new hotel located very central in Osaka - although a subway ride from JR Osaka station. The hotel is simply beautiful and the rooms could not be better. The basic room rate is very good value at the moment (less than 20,000 Yen per night) but beware that the extra's are pricey; especially drinks in the bar. I stayed for two weeks and the daily internet / telephone fees were waived, which was quite generous. The deluxe room is the nicest hotel room that I've stayed in. The bathroom facilities are excellent. The room controls are electronic. The first time I stayed here, the staff monitored my movements using this facility, since they needed to speak to me - which was a bit weird. Overall I'd be very happy to stay there again - and I probably will. There are lot's of interesting places walking distance from the hotel - just beware of the footpath cyclists! Business centre is awkward to use. No swimming pool.

Room Tip: If you are offered an upgraded room for a couple of thousand Yen extra per night, it is definitely w...

“Gorgeous hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

A very luxurious hotel in Osaka, great location right in the heart of Midosuji dori.Beautiful sakura suite with great views, amazing bathroom, wonderful butler service. The buffet breakfast was not that great though, choice limited, expensive and quality... just average.Restaurants are too pricey but there are so many other options nearby to explore. The hotel is lacking concierge desk however, as the butler despite being very kind may not always be very knowledgeable.I shall return with great pleasure in April.

“Nice hardware but poor software”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

The hotel decoration looks nice but the service is not qualified as5star hotel. Only 2 people working at the reception and being concierge at the same time. Bar was closed at midnight, so backward. We had some drinks there and were told that last order was midnight. Service gor breakfast was so slow since getting the table even the restaurant was half empty, food was slow and might make you be late for early meeting if you are in rush. Room is nice but not super neat set up as top hotel for Starwood group. Not sure if I will come back to stay here, it id not meet my expectation.

“Property was good but quality of food and service needs to improve....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Pros- Building is new so everything is clean and comfortable. Stayed in the grand deluxe premier room on the 20th floor with a view-bath which had a large window adjacent to the tub that overlooked the city of Osaka. Shower pressure was excellent . Staff from the bell to the front desk, concierge/butler and waiter at the breakfast room were very helpful.

Cons- Needs to improve a LOT on food. Especially their room service menu for sandwiches and the afternoon tea menu at the lobby bar/tea room. Club sandwich was dreadful with a terrible looking slither of orange coloured cheese, the ones you would llikely find in supermarkets or fastfood chains, I could not finish my plate due to it's unappealing presentation. The chicken in the club was unimpressive too, they need to learn how to fix proper sandwiches for the price they charge...
Breakfast on a week day was smooth but on Saturday it became too full for it's capacity, we agreed to wait in our room until the table was ready but did not receive any call after twenty minutes. Called them and turns out the table was ready after all, how strange.

Afternoon tea- This was already included in our package. After my rather disappointing tea experience at the Ritz Osaka several years ago was not particularly enthusiastic but tried anyway turned out to be mediocre and a let down. As I have mentioned the building itself is pristine and beautiful so the bar/lobby tea room is cozy with high ceilings and huge windows a perfect setting for a nice cup of tea when the weather proves to be sunny. However I suppose the waiters are not used to serving afternoon tea, the guy who brought us the tower just left the table without explaining what was on each tray...bizarre. The aforementioned sandwich was probably made by the same kitchen so I will not repeat on the quality. The cheesecake and the sponge cake was good, scones were too hard and chewy like buiscuits, strangely my Darjeeling tea did not arrive for 20 minutes so had to remind them..the room was not even full and there were plenty of waiters so puzzled why this happened.

I will probably stay at this hotel due to it's cleanliness compared to other options in Osaka but will skip the inroom dining and the tea menu at the lobby in the future. Take the subway to Shinsai bashi or Namba which is only one and two stops where you will find plenty of other dining options.
