This hotel is located off one of the main shopping stretches in Kyoto. Staff are cordial and efficient, limited English. Room looks somewhat worn, rust and mould under the sink rim, but that's the worst of it. Everything else is in reasonable condition, functional, and most common amenities are there. There was a Domino's Pizza Menu too for delivery pizza - haven't these these in other Japanese hotels. Rooms are a decent size - our twin room had a 2 metre sofa at the end of one single bed, and a good sized wardrobe.
Best thing about the hotel is the location. Across the road is a convenience store for food/drinks (inc. alcohol). Around the corner you'll find a Holly's Cafe, good for coffee and cake, but further down the road, about a 10-15 minute walk, is where the main action is - Shijo Kawaramachi shopping (big department stores and shopping/game arcades), Gion (geisha, maiko, traditional food shops) and right down the end of the road is the Maruyama Park - temple, nature. Court Hotel is a great place to stay if no other central hotel is available.
