Stayed here for three nights, from 25-28 December 2011 sandwiched between my stays in Citadines Shinjuku Tokyo. Booked my stays via their main website and there was an ongoing promo even during the peak period of Christmas - New Year week. We arrived from Tokyo to Kyoto via the shinkasen to Kyoto Station. Based on their website, it was recommended to take the train from the Kyoto Station to their nearest station to Citadines. Well, my wife and I decided to chance and walk based on our map and to our surprise, it was actually quite near. It was a 15 minutes of leisure walk and we actually passed one of the UNESCO world heritage site along the way. The hotel has an unassuming main entrance but definitely the best Citadines entrance I have been to (my third Citadines stay). It has a shogun feel entrance with a long pathway to the reception area, The reception is friendly and attentive, like most of all hotel staff. The room is better lighted than the Shinjuku version, but the size is the same. Numerous restaurants and cafes nearby, so don't worry about going hungry. It's also walking distance to the Nishiki Market, and other nearby attractions. On the whole, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a no-frills hotel with great location.
