Amalie is a wonderful oasis in heart of the commercial district (Sannomiyo) of Kobe. It overlooks the grounds of the Ikuta shrine. It has a quirky decor, but the rooms are clean and simple and have the basic amenities. With a great breakfast and quick access to the Sannomiyo Station, the hotel Amalie made my stay in Kobe pleasant and easy.

I stayed at the last day of the month which gives me special rate for single room - 5000 yen, very very cheap for a hotel this nice. The first thing you'll notice when you arrive at the hotel is the design of the hotel which has a very strong nautical theme to it. Kinda weird but nice at the same time. Rooms are clean, just what you'll expect at Japanese hotels. The single room I had was not too small too. The hotel is located about 10 mins walk from Sannomiya station and maybe about 15-20 mins walk to the Kitano area. The Sannomiya area has lots of shops and restaurants and very lively at night. All in all I thought the hotel was good value and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends who are travelling to Kobe.
