This is the fourth time I've been to Japan for a medical conference and this is the largest hotel I've stayed in. The rooms and bathrooms are normal-sized by western standards but fairly large for a Japanese Hotel, just for that it gets a "very good" rating for me.
The hotel is not very new, it has the smell and feel of a fairly aged hotel. But just like the rest of Japan, everything was quite clean.
The food is very good. The interesting thing with the breakfast buffet is that you're given a choice of where to have breakfast. We had breakfast on the 2nd floor restaurant on the first day and on the 30th floor restaurant on the second day. The 30th floor had the better view with fewer food choices and the 2nd floor had no view, with a wider selection of food.
The staff in the hotel (just like most Japanese) were very polite and helpful.
I would agree with the other reviews which state that its an ideal hotel if you have a meeting to attend at the near by convention center (less than 5 min walk). But it does take some effort to get to downtown Kobe. There is however a free shuttle going to and fro the Port Island and the downtown area.
The drawback of this hotel is that use of the gym and the in-door pool is not included in the hotel room fee and the fee for use of these facilities were quite exorbitant for the average Filipino travel (me). I didn't even think of using the outdoor pool since it was only around 15 degrees centigrade at noon time.
Overall, it was a pleasant stay.
