The Kobe Bay Sheraton is in typical Japanese fashion a very clean and orderly hotel. The Check-in process models that of other Japanese hotels, where your luggage is attended to, as the front desk staff will check you in with the usual efficient manner. Only being a SPG Gold member, I was asked if I would like to upgrade my room with points. I agreed. This was likely a big mistake. The room other than its proximity to the club lounge, was still a very small room. Definitely not worth the points to upgrade. I would have thought that even with Gold status I would have gotten free internet access, but this was not the case. The only benefit to being close to the club lounge is that I could piggy-back off the lounge wi-fi.

The location of the Kobe Bay Sheraton is to say the least inconvenient. To get to the hotel from Osaka (which is where we were coming from meant a fairly long train ride from Shin Osaka and then onto the Rokko Liner. Once out on Rokko Island, there isn't much to do. Hence we ended up going back into Kobe.

The club lounge staff were very helpful in recommending a restaurant to have a fantastic Kobe Beef meal. But not so good on providing directions to said place.

The hotel does seem to cater itself to the wedding event, as there are bridal shops and other shops catering to wedding activities.

Included with our rate was breakfast at the Garden Café. The buffet style breakfast was a very decent spread of food with large variety of American and Japanese style breakfast fare. The only down play with breakfast is that one of the bridal shops had a display that had a video display cranking out some dance music on a continuous loop. Making one raise their voices just to converse.

Overall the staff were very helpful and courteous to us and our requests. We spoke very little Japanese and yet they did their best to understand our requests/questions.

Pros: Clean, efficient and courteous staff.
Cons: location, value, amenities.

Stayed here a few times over the years. Good, comfortable rooms, bigger than the typical Japanese room. Staff are very helpful. Japanese restaurant is good but v expensive. And don't bother with the buffer restaurant downstairs there are other good options around the area.
Location is great if you are doing business on Rokko Island otherwise sure why you would come here!

ロビーや建物、部屋の内装はとても可愛く上品でした。何度か宿泊した事があるのですが、ツイン・ダブル共に部屋は広めで、お風呂はシャワーボックスとバスタブが別々にあるので日本人にはすごく使いやすく広々としています。ただ、いくつかの部屋の洗面所で、タイル等が割れている部分があったのですが仮補修のままだったところが少し残念でした。ですが、とても清潔に掃除はされていました。アメニティは普通です。
ホテル内の地下にはスポーツバーもあり、月に何度かジャズライブをやっておられるようです。最上階のバーからの景色は本当にロマンチックなので、是非カップルで利用される場合はお勧めです。そちらでも、シャンソン歌手の方がライブをされていました。
立地は、三宮へ行くには不便だと思います。電車だと、アイランド線とJRor阪神を乗りつがなければいけません。ホテルからバスも出ていますが、結構時間がかかります。
ですが、ホテル周辺にはハーバーや公園もあり芸術的なオブジェなんかも街中に立っていたり、新しい島ですので建物もお洒落なものばかりで、散歩するにはとても良いですしとても静かで落ち着く環境です。国際的な街ですので海外の方がとても多く住んでおられ、日本ではないような気持ちになります。とにかく、景色がとても良いので、カップルがのんびりするには最高でした。

It's kind of out of the way.Not in the city center.But once you get in the hotel,it's not too difficult to explore the city since the tram station is within walking distance.Nice seaview from the room.Very friendly staff!! (This deserves 5 stars.)Room and Bath size is big comparing to those jp hotels.Price fair.Pretty good breakfast.Only one thing really made me unpleasant is that they charge for internet.That is awful.
